How many times have you told yourself that youโ€™re โ€œjust not a chefโ€ or that cooking isnโ€™t for you because you havenโ€™t had formal training?

Itโ€™s a familiar story from women who feel overwhelmed in the kitchen or worry that they donโ€™t have what it takes to make healthy, satisfying meals.

But todayโ€™s guest on the podcast, Chef Lauren Covas, shares an important message --- the kitchen is for everyone, not just the pros.

Although Lauren IS formally trained, she insists that you donโ€™t need a degree to cook confidently and nourish yourself or your family.

On the episode, we talk about how culinary โ€œrulesโ€ can hold you back from experimenting, how Lauren learned just as much from her home kitchen as she did in culinary school, and why itโ€™s more about curiosity and consistency than credentials.

Check out her new (& beautiful) cookbook Little Portugal and of course, check out the full episode by commenting "PODCAST" below!

Have you ever noticed how a single bite of something familiar can bring back a flood of memories?

Itโ€™s incredible how the taste of a recipe your family made for generations can instantly reconnect you to childhood, holidays, or even just an ordinary evening around the dinner table.

So often, when we talk about food, we focus on nutrition or the โ€œrightโ€ way to eatโ€”but food is so much more than fuel.

On this weekโ€™s podcast, weโ€™re exploring why the memory of food is one of the last things we lose, and how our emotional connection to meals is just as important as the ingredients themselves.

Whether itโ€™s your grandmotherโ€™s soup, a favorite dessert or the scent of fresh bread, these moments have a way of grounding us and bringing comfort, especially in seasons of change.

Food memories remind us who we are, where weโ€™ve come from, and how much care and love we can offer ourselves and othersโ€”one meal at a time.

Comment "PODCAST" to hear more stories, strategies, and gentle reminders that itโ€™s okay to cherish these connectionsโ€”and to make new ones along the way.

Letโ€™s be honestโ€”thereโ€™s always that one kitchen chore we secretly wish someone else would handle.
For us, we seem to agree that itโ€™s emptying the dishwasher! No matter how rewarding the meal, itโ€™s the part Iโ€™d gladly skip if I could.

Itโ€™s funny how something so small can feel like such a hurdleโ€”sometimes that pile of dishes or stack of meal prep containers is enough to make anyone want to call it quits before they even get started.

The truth is, itโ€™s normal to not love every part of the process, and you donโ€™t have to pretend otherwise.

What matters is finding small ways to make these chores less of a choreโ€”whether itโ€™s putting on your favorite playlist, breaking tasks into quick bursts, or even asking for help (yes, you deserve support too).

Sometimes, the most powerful shift is simply acknowledging that youโ€™re not alone in feeling this way. Thatโ€™s what builds real habitsโ€”accepting the messy, imperfect parts right alongside the wins.

For more fun with Chef Lauren, tune in THIS THURSDAY 12/4 wherever you get your podcasts.

Your bones are not on autopilot. ๐Ÿฆด๐Ÿ’ช

Here's what most women don't realize: you can lose up to 20% of your bone mass in just five years after menopause. But here's the good newsโ€”you have WAY more control over your skeletal strength than you think.

Your bones aren't just holding you up. They're the foundation for your independence, your mobility, and your ability to live life on YOUR terms at 65, 75, 85 and beyond.

So what can you do RIGHT NOW?

1. Build lean muscle - Muscle and bone talk to each other. When you lift heavy, your bones respond by getting stronger.
2. Add impact - Jump rope, skip, run. Your bones need that signal to rebuild.
3. Feed your skeleton - Calcium-rich foods (think leafy greens and dairy), plus adequate vitamin D, magnesium, potassium, and proteinโ€”about one gram per ideal body pound.
4. Know your numbers - Get a DXA scan to understand where your bones stand today.

Our bodies become more complex as we enter midlife, with factors like hormones, metabolism, and even your immune system all playing a role.

One important piece of this puzzle is GLP1, a hormone that helps regulate appetite and blood sugar.
But hereโ€™s something you might not have heard: your immune systemโ€™s messengersโ€”called cytokinesโ€”can actually influence how GLP1 works in your body.

When inflammation rises (which is common during menopause, high stress, or disrupted sleep), cytokines can interfere with GLP1โ€™s effectiveness.
