When teaching baby signs it’s best to start with words baby can use day to day like “milk”. Signing milk is a great way for your baby to communicate her/his needs to you. ⭐️ Teach baby by saying a word, like “milk” while making the sign at the same time and then giving your baby milk. Remember repetition is key!

If your child presents with a frontal lisp he/she is sticking their tongue out between their teeth when making the /s/ sound. This makes the “s” sound like a “th” such as, “thun” for “sun”. The World Health Organization states infants should not be exposed to electronic screens. Did you know children younger than age 2 are more likely to learn and remember info from real life interactions than they are from a video? Children 2+ years can benefit from some types of screen time but it’s important remember to get yourself involved! By watching a program together and drawing attention to what is on the screen, you can help your little one understand what he or she is seeing and apply it to their life. It’s also important to implement screen time rules that are right for your family. The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests limiting that to 1 hour/ day of educational programs.

Did you know reading in the earliest months stimulates the part of the brain that allows for understanding meaning of language while building important language, literacy, and social skills? When reading to your child remember to read slowly 🐢, re-read books that you’ve already read 📚, and as your child gets older begin to ask questions about what you’re reading together ❓!
