I have been mostly dairy free for over a year now. My stomach just doesn’t love dairy but I miss it cheese so much!

I have been in love with the Cottege cheese because while it is not dairy free it is “lactose free” and I think that’s what bothers me most!

I love to talk about “food swaps” and how we can “kill our cravings” by eating what we want to have that is healthier or sits better with us rather than grab what we know we shouldn’t but we love anyway! Does this make sense?

I know cheese will not sit well in my tummy and I know I can fill that void with Cottege cheese! I place it in the center of my omelette and it melts. I know it’s not the exact same consistency and flavor as melted mozzarella cheese in my egg omelette but it’s pretty darn similar without the belly ache so I’ll choose it again and again and again!

Did I mention there is 13g of Protein in 1/2 a cup?!

Love your body! Eat for how you want to feel… no one ever regretted feeling great!

Never Miss A Monday!

Today is our chance to bounce back after the Chagim and regain our mental, emotional and physical strength.

Make the time!
Set your intentions for the week!
Drink your water!
Get your workout in!
Set yourself up for success today!
Do something that makes you feel productive!

You are a confident, strong, efficient lady and you are going to feel so much better in the other side of your workout! … All you need to do is today’s class and you will feel better already!

It’s 6:15am and I’m not finished with teaching class…
Because I never woke up to teach class! 😳

Missing class is actually one of my biggest nightmares… and it happened today. It’s crazy how the universe has to align in so many ways for this to happen, and all the pieces fell into place or out of place enough for it to.

The most amazing thing is that the FIT45 Women’s Fitness Group may have started late - confused and concerned waiting for my zoom room to open but when they got a heads up I overslept and overcame their shock that that actually happened they hit okay to an old workout that was loaded by the help of who thank the heavens can run my business in her sleep and keeps a really good eye on me. Thank you for jumping in and thank you FIT45 for pivoting and getting in your workouts. I know you may have finished your class 10 min later on a busy morning with a back to school commute BUT you did it, you got the workout in and that’s makes us show up today like strong women - strong in mind and in body- ready for the day and ready for anything that comes our way… even a coach who may have overslept for the first time in the history of the Coach Ellie Program!

No Excuses here, I’m just so proud of my FIT45 team!

It’s Aliyah Day!

My parents and my grandmother are making Aliyah today! Off to live in Israel!

Goodbyes are never easy, this one is so bittersweet. I am excited for them and this new chapter and sad we won’t be down the block from them anymore! Looking forward to coming to Israel more often!

We wish them much hatzlavha and Bracha in their new home and new city as they embark on this new journey and exciting time in their lives! 💙🇮🇱💙

Finish Strong on Friday!

I have a few “Coach Ellie-isms”… one of them is “Never Miss a Monday”, meaning I encourage all women to set the tone and their intentions for the week with consistency in keeping to a Monday workout routine. How we start our week really makes a difference in how we follow through the rest of the week.

When we think about the weekday bookends, I want to stress the importance of a Friday workout too.
I’m adding another one of my “Coach Ellie-isms” now:
“Finish Strong on Friday!”
Not only do we want to finish our week strong, but we want to head into the weekend feeling strong, confident and in control of our weekend!

So as I look at a week, Monday- Friday being work days, our most busy days of the week, I want to stress how important it is physically, emotionally and mentally for us women to try our hardest to get in the bookend days with exercise!

Give yourself some grace if you don’t get Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday’s workout in…. But Never miss a Monday and Finish Strong on Friday!

So do whatever form of exercise you love… Just Do It, so you can feel great, feel confident and feel strong no matter what happens in the middle of the week!

21 days…

It’s been 21 days since I have picked up a dumbbell to workout.

Instead of weighted workouts/ strength training, I have continued to move and exercise with long walks and the use of Resistance Bands.

For the last 3 years, I have gifted my body a break in July. I work at a 100%+ level the whole year with my workouts, teaching, training, filming and coaching. My body needs a rest. A real actual rest. This is something I am very strict about.

It is not easy for me to skip my daily workouts. I have major FOMO seeing my fitness teams do their daily workouts.

For me exercise is not only part of my day, its part of who I am, how I keep my body in shape and strong. Strong and happy physically and mentally.

This rest has nothing to do with where I am or a lack of fitness tools. I have fitness tools at home and a gym down the block.

This is a CHOICE.

As I share this I know there are so many of you who go on vacation and want to rest your bodies or just flat out skip your workouts. I want to tell you that a little rest is all ok! Your body may even thank you for it. We need to work hard, we need to rest and our bodies will recover and bounce back.

Here are some of my TRUTHS:
🔹have given my body much needed permission to take time off.
🔹It’s not easy to sit it out and watch my FIT45 and FIT20 teams, loved ones, good friends, piers & mentors all get their workouts in.
🔹I know I am still moving with lower intensity and lower impact activity.
🔹I know muscle memory will kick in when I start again.
🔹I know my body will bounce back stronger.
🔹 I know I am almost ready.
🔹 I know I have made an effort to adjust my eating a little to support the change.
🔹 I know I am doing the right thing by giving myself some grace and permission to do this.
🔹I know next week I will be back to teaching Live FIT45 classes!
🔹 I know I have enjoyed my vacation and secretly enjoyed rearing my body.
🔹 I know my body needs some work ans O need to work harder to get back to where I was on 7/3.
🔹 I AM STRONGER THAN I KNOW ❤️

To workout or NOT workout…

Sitting in this big chair feel like my internal struggle with NOT working out!

For the last 2 weeks I have been in Israel walking, hiking, being active without formally doing my workouts. It’s how I rest my body every year. I take about 2 weeks in July and I don’t pick up weights, I grab resistance bands when I walk, I move but not formally and not with weighted tools. Letting my body rest is not easy because I am conditioned to need and want to workout… ⭐️⭐️because when I exercise I feel good mentally and physically.

As I sat in this oversized chair I could not get comfortable. The chair was (intentionally) too big and my legs were not long enough, I was not sure how to sit or how to get comfortable. It’s exactly how I feel when I don’t workout.

The interesting thing is that many of my clients and so many more express this feeling to me too!
We don’t always workout for physical benefit (although that is always worth it as a great benefit to hard work). The mental stability and strength that strength training and exercise brings, the stress management it helps with, the feel good endorphins, the hope molecules and all the positive benefits it brings are all icing on the cake and all good reasons to keep moving!

So as I sat in this uncomfortable chair, thinking about how uncomfortable I am not strength training and holding myself back, I decided 2 weeks is enough and I’m picking up my weights. (July has always been a month of “Dr’s orders to rest my body”). I’m done resting, my body is restless, my mind needs a weighted challenge and I need my daily structure back.

You know my motto: Never Miss A Monday!

While I am not getting my usual FIT45 class this Monday, I am still moving!
I walked all around Jerusalem this morning, a walk for intentional exercise.

Walking is not a cop-out at all! The point is to still move daily- right?
Be true to yourself even on vacation especially with setting the tone and your intentions for the week. Making sure you move and get a solid workout every Monday. Starting on Monday is really important to help me (and so many of us) stay on track for the rest of the week!

Getting in a Monday workout will make you feel better about yourself and make it easier to push a little more in your workouts for the rest of the week... !
