Do you know what Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder/ PTSD is?
It begins after experiencing a traumatic, shocking, or dangerous event. A while after this event, the symptoms of response might not disappear but many times become even more present.
This can severely impact daily life and overall quality of life. PTSD is treatable, and it is important to find help.
It is also essential to have some coping strategies to help you deal with PTSD on a daily basis, and there are various activities and actions you can be taking.
- Positive, healthy exercise activities: they can make you feel better, help you regain focus, and has proven successful in dealing with stress.
- Stay connected and spend time with people who support you and give you a sense of calm, like family and friends.
- Engage in activities that make you feel good, for example listening to music, journaling, doing volunteer work, or spending time in nature.
- Stay healthy and stick to your routines. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat healthily and follow a schedule for your activities.
- Meditation and Mindfulness are good tools to help you deal with stress and get grounded and centered.
- Know your triggers and limit exposure, be on the lookout for your triggers and discover how to deal with them.
Remember it is possible to overcome PTSD and that it is crucial to have some coping strategies and activities so that you can manage the anxiety and fear as you go along.
