My work life includes supporting people impacted by a stroke. Part of that is offering STROGA, yoga for people impacted by stroke, within Stroke Onward's online community. This non-profit organization continues to demonstrate how life after stroke CAN be fulfilling, meaningful, and full of discovery.

Check out the second edition of "Identity Theft" and the movie mentioned below.

And if you know anyone who would like to participate in online STROGA, feel free to reach out. It's FREE and FUN.

We’re honored to be featured in “Stroke Across America,” a powerful documentary from WCNY now streaming on PBS.

The film follows Debra Meyerson and Steve Zuckerman on their cross-country bike ride after Deb’s stroke — and the many survivors, carepartners, and advocates they met along the way. It’s a story of resilience, adaptation, and purpose.

The work I do as a speech language pathologist and integrative health coach fills me with purpose .

Today I :
✔️ Conversed with a young man with aphasia about his birthday plans, excitement about the classes he’ll teach in the Fall and how much better it is to acknowledge aphasia when talking to new people .

✔️ Offered ongoing communication support to a couple facing PPA and acknowledged how HEALING can feel.

✔️ Marveled at the way my client with aphasia used communication supports to tell me about the two months of travel that await him. He was so excited and proud to share these details.

✔️ Introduced a person with aphasia who gives weekly sermons to syllable segmentation to make reading Biblical names easier.

✔️ Met a new woman whose face lit up when I acknowledged how competent she is despite the word finding struggle a recent stroke has caused. (Daughter’s quote is above).

When you have purpose and can feel the impact of the work you do, you keep going back for more.

STROKES change lives.
And life isn’t easy (for anyone).

Doctors give a lot of recommendations, advice, warnings, prescriptions, and follow up appointments.

I coach people who have experienced a STROKE so that my clients can:

DISCOVER new ways to eat, move, communicate, and more

CONNECT to people in their life and maintain relationships

COMMIT to recognize their needs and the time it takes to recreate what makes you feel GOOD

Care PARTnering is only PART of the process.

Thanks to , I checked out this old article that confirms what I always tell my clients:

🧠“Brain games” don’t reverse cognitive decline or make us smarter.

⏰They are not a complete waste of time.

‼️BUT: There IS a ton of value in practicing things that matter to you.
Even if it’s hard.

🏋️‍♂️If it doesn’t challenge you,
It doesn’t change you.

APHASIA does not impact a person’s soul

APHASIA does not impact a person’s intellect

APHASIA shouldn’t stop people from sharing their feelings.

I am proud to support people with APHASIA
