Shomrim received a call earlier today about a โbroken bottle scamโ that was successfully averted thanks to a quick-thinking caller and a rapid response by our volunteers.

A scammer intentionally bumps into a passerby and โdropsโ a bottle of liquor near them, then falsely accuses them of causing the damage. They demand payment on the spot, often using emotional pressure, fake witnesses, or intimidation to extract cash. In some cases, itโs also a setup for pickpocketing.

Stay calm, be aware of your surroundings, and donโt admit fault. Suggest calling the police and Shomrim โ scammers typically back off once they realize youโre not an easy target.
