Fat-free yogurt. Egg whites. Oatmeal with fruit. Overnight oats.

They all sound like weight loss wins. But by 10am, you’re grabbing an apple. By noon, it’s the office snack mix. By 3pm, you’re back in the pantry. A handful of nuts. A protein bar. Another coffee.

Your body burns up to 30% of protein’s calories just digesting it. So when you eat 100 calories of eggs or chicken, you’re only netting about 70. It’s called the thermic effect - and it’s why protein is the MVP for weight loss.

Aim for 30g+ of protein per meal, half of that for a healthy snack in between meals if needed.
