2022 has been tiring and rough for everyone! Enter the year with extra kindness towards yourself.

Instead of a resolution or goal for 2023, set an INTENTION; A word or theme for the year. There’s more fluidity and room for pivoting to what is more aligned at the time.

With an intention can come clarity with how to set goals.

But also you can always change it! You’re not stuck to it.

Have a safe noche vieja! Have your grapes 🍇 and maleta 🧳 ready (iykyk 😂) and salud🥂 to 2023.

Get comfortable being uncomfortable! It’s a whole process on it’s own. We need to hold space and work through the discomfort in therapy to create changes and unlearn behaviors.

What might that look like:
-Learning to tolerate emotions generally.
-sitting and coping with big feelings like anger and sadness.
-setting boundaries
-learning to tolerate others being upset at boundaries.
-prioritizing yourself.

Mental health affects EVERYONE and does not discriminate.

Sharing lifelines are not complete solutions to the bigger societal issues that aggravate mental health however, they are helpful and a great resource.

Today might be difficult and dark but the feelings are temporary despite what your brain might be telling you.

Reach out for support if needed.

At the end of the day we don’t know what others are going through unless they share it. Be kind.

Therapy gets uncomfortable before it gets better. It’s part of the process.
It includes but is not limited to: ♦️ self discovery
♦️learning triggers
♦️making connections, sometimes digging through things that you never realized caused an impact
♦️making changes
♦️holding others and self accountable
♦️and especially sitting with uncomfortable emotions and memories.

Work through the discomfort, sit with it, move forward. If it feels messy it means something is working.

La psicoterapia se pone incómodo antes de que se sienta mejor.

La terapia puede sentirse incómodo antes de mejorar y es parte del proceso. El proceso incluye, entre otros:
♦️el auto descubrimiento
♦️descubriendo factores desencadenante
♦️la creación de conexiones
♦️tomando pasos para implementar cambios
♦️tomando responsabilidad por sus comportamientos y creando límites
♦️y, especialmente, sentarse con emociones y recuerdos incómodos.

Trabajé a través de la incomodidad, siéntese con esas emociones y sentimiento, y siga adelante. Si hay momentos que se siente desordenado eso significa que algo está funcionando.

😷❤️🌎With states starting to reopen and lax their COVID protocols just a little reminder that no one can push you to relax your own precautions. Everyone has experienced the pandemic differently and might not be comfortable with “returning to normal” immediately. Check in with each other to understand where you stand on the matter. Go at your own pace.

😷❤️🌎Un recordatorio: Con los estados empezando a reabrir y relajando sus protocolos de COVID nadie le puede empujar a relajar sus propias precauciones. La pandemia a afectado a todos en maneras diferentes y no se debe juzgar a nadie por su paso de “volver a la normalidad”. Comuníquense claramente sobre el tema. Valla a su propio/a/x/e paso.

🧠 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 🧠

How wild is it that it’s May already?!

We’re starting off Mental Health Awareness Month with organizing some helpful resources. A few are state specific, but the rest are National. All the resources will provide some level of support ranging from psycho education and information, referrals to treatment and/or support groups, to crisis intervention.

I’ve tagged (when available) the organizations for easier access to their IG resources and other pages.

Growth! 🌱 🪴 ☀️ 💧

You wouldn’t give each plant the same amount of sun, water and type or soil right? Some are low light, some require more moisture, some need special soil. Just like a plant has different needs unique to itself so do people. We might not use soil, water, and sunlight in the same way but humans do need different factors to assist their growth. Growth might mean needing a different environment, taking care of health, putting yourself first, increasing support, drinking more water etc. What encourages growth for one person will be slightly different for another and might vary day to day.

No le darías a cada planta la misma cantidad de sol, agua y tipo o tierra, ¿verdad? Algunos necesitan poca luz, algunos requieren más humedad, algunos necesitan tierra especial. Es posible que no usemos tierra, agua y la luz solar de la misma manera, pero los humanos necesitan diferentes factores para ayudar a su crecimiento. El crecimiento puede significar la necesidad de un entorno diferente, cuidar la salud, ponerse en primer lugar, aumentar el apoyo, beber más agua, etc. Lo que fomenta el crecimiento en una persona será diferente en otra y puede variar día a día.

Tuesday Therapy tips!

It can be helpful to create a therapy routine especially if you’re doing tele therapy. This zoom call is different and possibly heavier than other calls. When therapy was done in a office you’d have the commute to and from the session to prepare or decompress while now therapy might be smack in the middle of work calls.

The session can be organized anyway you like whether that’s adding some light sounds or calming odors. Regardless first and foremost, the fact you’re PRESENT is a good start next is making sure your ENGAGED and part of the process.

⭐️ What I do recommend to all clients especially when sessions are heavier is to practice deep breathing once you log off for a few minutes before continuing with the rest of your day. If possible, move away from wherever you did your session to create a clear separation. This is an attempt to shake off the session to better transition into the rest of your day/night. ⭐️
Puede ser útil crear una rutina de terapia, especialmente si está haciendo teleterapia. Esta llamada de zoom es diferente y posiblemente más pesada que otras llamadas. Cuando la terapia se realizaba en la oficina, uno tenía que viajar de ida y vuelta a la sesión para prepararse o relajarse, mientras que ahora la terapia podría estar en medio de las llamadas de trabajo.

La sesión se puede organizar de la forma que desee, ya sea agregando algunos sonidos ligeros u olores calmantes. Independientemente, en primer lugar, el hecho de que esté PRESENTE es un buen comienzo, y que esté COMPROMETIDO ha ser parte del proceso.

⭐️ Lo que sí recomiendo a todos los clientes, especialmente cuando las sesiones son más intensas, es practicar la respiración profunda una vez que se desconecte antes de continuar con el resto del día. Si es posible, aléjese del lugar donde realizó su sesión para crear una separación clara. Este es un intento de crear una transición al resto de su día / noche. ⭐️
