n o u r i s h ~ lunch in the sun ☀️

Grateful that I can come home for lunch and take time to nourish with some sunshine.

I’ve been learning so much from about the importance of sun on our skin for so many aspects of our health, and how to gradually build up sun tolerance starting in spring.

(These dark blue pillows make it easier when it’s still mid-40s in NY!)

I made a warm salad with sautéed onions and cabbage topped with raw celery and radish, and simple homemade dressing of lemon + olive oil.

The mix of cooked & raw elements supports our bodies’ balance of yin and yang energy.

Warm yang for the little engine of our digestion & metabolism, and cool yin for healthy hormones, sleep, and more…

Plus all the flavors…
❤️Spicy, bitter radish for our heart & lungs.
🍋Sour lemon for our liver.
🧅Sweet earthy onion for our spleen.
🧂A bit of salt for our kidneys.

We’ll be diving into all this and more in our SPRING RESET CLEANSE in April…
Stay tuned for dates :))

Rest takes trust.

Trust that we won’t drop the ball…

That our to-do’s will still get done…

Trust that our needs (and others’) are met ~

Not just from our doing….

But also from our being.

Rest takes trust that our energy will naturally return.

Because it always does.

Just as Spring returns.

I want to talk about what I believe is the most important love you’ll every have ~ the one with yourself...

This relationship affects all others, because as we embody self-love, we get better at giving & receiving love from others.

And to me, the path to self-love is WHOLENESS.

Not fixing, removing, releasing, or perfecting anything...
But truly embracing all aspects of ourselves.

When we embrace our wholeness, it unlocks a power we never knew we had, and we can share ourselves more authentically with the world...

It’s not easy to do ~ our instinct is to deny, ignore, or hide those less-desirable and admirable aspects of ourselves...

And even when we say we want to love all of ourselves, until we feel it in the body, our minds will probably not get on board.

This is what I’ll be guiding you to do in ourBe YOUR Valentine Self-Love Workshop this Saturday.

Through heart-expanding movementand a powerful art+writing ritual you will:

🩷 cultivate deep inner connection and a sense of wholeness
🩷 clear old emotions & beliefs from the heart
🩷 feel authentic self-love & appreciation
🩷 rebalance to give and receive fully

I often use this question as a guide me to what I need at any given time…

YIN =
rest
stillness
silence
grounding
retreating within
gathering energy
refueling

YANG =
movement
activity
rising
inspired action
reaching out
using fuel

SO ASK YOURSELF:

Do I need to slow down, center, ground? (yin)
Or to move, activate, expand? (yang)

Do I need to stop everything I’m doing, pause and take a few deep breaths?

Or get off my butt, take a walk, put on some music and dance?

Do I need solace or socializing?
Movement or stillness?
Activity or rest?

And you may even need a bit of both!

Just listen and your body & spirit will tell you...

Ever since learning Chinese Medicine, I’ve been fascinated by it’s teachings on living in harmony with the cycles of nature.

We were not taught to look at the natural world around us and remember that we’re a part of it.

To know that we are cyclical beings...and that same shifts happening “out there” are also happening in us.

I created Seasonal Resets to make this ancient wisdom practical, so we can feel more alive, aligned, and in flow in our every day lives.

And to make healthy eating, exercise & self-care feel so good that our choices become easier, more natural.

So it will be my honor to have you join us for 2 weeks of:
✨ seasonal whole-food eating,
✨ gentle energizing movement,
✨ and inspired self-care

It’s designed to be simple, enjoyable and easy to do without deprivation, dieting or expensive supplements.

And can be customized to your dietary preferences and schedule.

We start Sat Jan 18...

Early Pricing is $97 for the next 48 hours, then $197.

In our WINTER RESET CLEANSE starting this Sat, you’ll learn about the amazing world of ‘food energetics’…

why we eat certain flavors & colors in each season (and how to customize this for your own symptoms and health goals.)

Winter in Chinese Medicine is all about PRESERVING our life force energy.

(That’s why we don’t do draining detoxes right now)

Salt is a natural preserver, so it would make sense that “salty” is the flavor associated with Winter.

The color of Winter is black and dark blue/purple, signifying, Winter’s depth and inwardness.

So here are 3 of my favorite superfoods for this time:

UMEBOSHI is salted purple plum (either whole or in a paste).

It has been used for 1000s of years as a medicinal food to stimulate digestion, fight bacteria, remove parasites, and reduce bloating and edema.

I love Umeboshi for its super salty-sour kick. Try one plum diced up or a tablespoon of paste in salads, soups and sautés for a boost of flavor, color and nutrition.

ADUKI BEANS are shown to balance blood sugar, aid in digestion, benefit our bones and skin, and support weight loss.

I use them interchangeably with black beans in winter stir-fries, soups, and even brownies!

BLACK TAHINI is a luscious paste made from black sesame seeds.

They get their black color from their rich supply of anthocyanins - a compound that has been shown have anti-inflammatory, anti-viral by and cancer fighting effects.

Use like regular tahini in homemade dressing, hummus, baking, or just spread on sprouted toast/apple/pear with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

These items can be found at most health food stores.
I love this brand for their traditional preparation.

To learn more super foods and get the guide full of recipes, join our WINTER RESET CLEANSE starting Sat Jan 18!

Early Pricing is $97 for the next 48 hours, then $197.

Brett & I just got back from leading a retreat at Sivananda Bahamas, and what an oasis of peace & love energy it was!!

We were blown away by the beauty, food, music…but most of all, by the people there ~ some of the most kind, warm, and open-hearted we’ve ever met.

We landed yesterday to the snowy reminder that we are still in the heart of Winter, making this the perfect time for our Winter Reset Cleanse.

This time, I’m bringing in inspiration from the amazingly nourishing food at Sivananda and our last retreat at Kripalu.

If you’ve done one of these seasonal resets with me (Winter, Spring or Fall), you know this is not your average detox...

The Winter Reset Cleanse is 2 weeks of:
✨ seasonal whole-food eating,
✨ gentle energizing movement,
✨ and inspired self-care

This body-mind-spirit reset based on the wisdom of Chinese Medicine aligns us with the energy of the season for sustainable change, greater vitality, and the feeling of being balanced, aligned, and in-flow.

Best of all...It’s designed to be simple, enjoyable and easy to do without deprivation, dieting or expensive supplements.

We’ll be starting Sat Jan 18...however, everything is recorded, so you are welcome to join and get underway when you are ready :))

Early Pricing is $97 for the next 72 hours, then $197.
