Top-tier elegance. Intentional excellence. Unmatched sisterhood. The Violet Club VIP Reception hosted my chapter set the tone for an unforgettable weekend that was beautifully executed, deeply meaningful, and filled with Delta pride. Every moment reminded me why this sisterhood and this legacy will always mean everything to me. Still soaking it all in. Grateful. Full. Proud to be Delta girl!🔺❤️🤍

It was an honor to be featured on NY1 News at the HOPE Center alongside Manhattan Borough President Mark D. Levine, my colleague Dr. Sidney Hankerson and our clinical team. Thank you to news anchor Ayana Harry for sharing our story and shining a light on our organization.

We are deeply grateful to Borough President Mark D. Levine for his presentation of a $540,000 grant to the HOPE Center / FCBC Community Development Corporation to fund a Mobile Mental Health Unit. His dedication to the health and well-being of New Yorkers is both meaningful and impactful.

I am so grateful for an opportunity to lead a team with compassion, unwavering commitment to mental health equity and continue to redefine what it means to meet communities where they are. This initiative builds on the partnership between Mount Sinai Health Systems and the HOPE Center focusing on community-centered care.

Through this work, hope is no longer confined to buildings or systems, it is mobile, accessible, and rooted in dignity. My vision ensures that care reaches people not only in moments of crisis, but as a sustained presence in their everyday lives.

The Mobile Mental Health Unit supported through this grant will break down barriers to access and bring hope directly into communities.

I look forward to transforming lives and setting a new standard for what mental health care can and should be.

December be like: Coffee in one hand, to do list in the other. Deadlines, parties, playlists, lights, late nights, and a few early mornings.

Somewhat exhausted…but somehow still magical. Here’s to restoration, connection, the coziness, the celebrations, countdowns, and the tiny moments that make it all worth it. Busy? Yes. Fun? Absolutely.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season! 💫

As a very proud, slightly over caffeinated professor, I just want to say: WOW. My students showed up, asked smart questions, wrestled with tough ideas, and stretched themselves this semester. I’m so appreciative of our experience.

We made it.
The syllabus was followed (mostly).
The deadlines were met (eventually).
And …they all became better scholars.
As their professor, I’ve watched my students go from “Wait, what’s the assignment?” to delivering final presentations that made me quietly rethink my grading rubric out of pure respect. Seriously, the growth, the effort, the topics, the confidence?! Incredible.

I’m proud of them in the way where I tell my friends,
“My students are AMAZING”, and then immediately pull up examples like a proud parent showing photos.
I am thankful for the hard work, the resilience, the thoughtful discussions, and the moments that reminded me why I love teaching. Now to rest, recharge, and enjoy the fact that we all earned this break.
End of semester = survived.
Students = crushed it.
Professor = extremely proud.

An artist is a sort of emotional or spiritual historian. Their role is to make you realize the doom and glory of knowing who you are and what you are. - James Baldwin

Congratulations to all of the photography students and teaching artists on a phenomenal program! After 10 weeks of facilitating photography programs for both teens and adults, the 5th annual exhibition was hosted at the Aloft Hotel in Harlem alongside partners . So proud of all that they have accomplished!

Lately I’ve been thinking about how much mentorship really matters. Not just the formal kind with bullet-point goals and check-ins though those help, but the quiet, human kind. The kind that happens when someone shows up, listens without rushing, and reminds you of who you are when you forget.

Connection is such a simple thing, yet somehow it’s the spark that changes everything. A single conversation can shift your direction. A single “I believe in you” can bring you back to yourself. And a mentor official or not, can leave fingerprints on the rest of your life.

Here’s to the people who guide us with honesty, patience, and heart…and to the moments when we get to turn around and offer the same light to someone else. ❤️

The mental-health crisis among youth is real and significant. Youth sport, when designed and implemented thoughtfully, offers a powerful platform to promote mental-health literacy, resilience, social connection and belonging.

HISTORIC MOMENT IN HARLEM!📍110th Street & Lenox Ave is now officially designated Malcolm X Plaza and Harlem is standing proud. Last weekend, under the leadership of Senator Cordell Cleare, we honored a giant. A leader. A voice that still echoes through our streets, our struggles, and our triumphs.

This is a space of legacy that says loudly and unapologetically, our heroes live here. These are the very streets he walked, debated, taught, and inspired, we honor him in a way that future generations will see, feel, and remember. Harlem doesn’t just celebrate history we embody it.
