More women are having babies in their 40s than in their teens — for the first time ever. 🤰 A new CDC report reveals a major shift in how women are building families in the U.S. While this reflects decades of progress in preventing teen pregnancy, it also tells a deeper story...
Here is Extend Fertility's Cheif Clinical Officer, Dr. Klein's thoughts on this report:
"Aside from the encouraging reality that decades of public education regarding the dangers of teenage pregnancy, I want to highlight two important ideas that emerge from this data.
First, women are choosing to have children later in life.
Biologically, the easiest time to conceive is in one’s 20s, but modern realities tell a different story. Higher education, career demands, financial considerations, and the challenge of finding the right partner have led many women to start or grow their families in their 30s and 40s.
Second, we have made great advances in modern fertility treatment like IVF.
New tech technologies have enabled us to help women who are reproductively older to have successful pregnancies. While it’s true that IVF success rates have increased in the last number of years, I think the most important development has been the rise of egg freezing so that women who are not ready to have their children in their 20s or 30s can save their fertility potential and use it later in life to achieve a healthy pregnancy."

Can you freeze your eggs while taking GLP-1 medication? 💉😳 This is a very common question we get at Extend Fertility.
🥚If you’re on Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, or any other GLP-1 medication and are planning to freeze your eggs, we recommend that you pause taking your medication for *at least* 3 weeks prior to treatment. One month is preferred!
🤔 Why do you need to pause medication during your egg freezing cycle? GLP-1s slow digestion, which can increase risks during anesthesia.
Additionally, we recommend that you wait at least 2-3 days *after* retrieval to start taking your GLP-1 again.

Ever wonder what we’re looking for during ultrasounds when you’re getting a consult or monitoring during your egg freezing cycle? 👀
During an ultrasound we…
🔎 Count your antral follicles (tiny, fluid-filled sacs in your ovaries that each hold an immature egg). Your antral follicles give doctors a window into your fertility health
🔎 Check your uterus for abnormalities like fibroids
🔎 Monitor the growth of your antral follicles during stimulation

Extend Fertility is the very first service in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to women choosing to proactively freeze their eggs.
We’ve been in the business of helping women freeze their eggs for over a decade. We began by connecting women around the country with local clinics who offered this service—but during that time, we recognized that women choosing an egg freezing clinic deserved a place of their own and a service they could afford. We’ve created exactly such a place.
We recognize that the physical and emotional needs of women interested in fertility options are vastly different from the needs of women struggling with infertility issues. This might seem obvious. But most practices serve both sets of women in the same office and focus mainly on the latter, who hope to get pregnant immediately through techniques like in vitro fertilization (IVF)—which is efficient for the practice, but not ideal for you if you’re not in that camp.
That’s what’s different about Extend Fertility: we believe that women interested in fertility options for the future deserve the same level of service, emotional support, and physician excellence as women trying for a baby now.
Our physicians have been trained at the country’s top institutions and come to us from the area’s leading fertility clinics. Our doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and embryologists embrace what’s unique about Extend Fertility—they all strongly believe that egg freezing should be an affordable, clinically excellent option for women.
What’s new about Extend Fertility isn’t our medical or laboratory expertise, but our focus on creating a program centered around the unique, busy lives of women who want to freeze their eggs—at a price that makes sense at this point in their lives. (Learn more about egg freezing costs at Extend Fertility.)
Every woman has her own dreams and aspirations. And for many, setting aside the worry about fertility can help them focus on achieving their goals. If that’s the case for you, come talk to us to learn more about Extend Fertility. We’re here to help.
