Often dismissed as insignificant, nausea can be debilitating for patients.

Prevalence rates of nausea range from 43-49% in patients with AIDS. Nausea and vomiting, while distinct, commonly coexist, universally impacting the quality and quantity of life in patients with serious illnesses.

To learn more about the ins and outs of nausea and vomiting in people living with serious illness, including causes, treatment, and patient-education, read CAPC blog 'How to Manage Nausea and Vomiting in Patients with Serious Illness' >>

At least one in five people in the US are living with a disability, including physical limitations, cognitive difficulties, or serious mental illness. Evidence shows that many of these individuals receive poorer quality health care and, as a result, experience serious illness at much higher rates than those without disabilities. Palliative care, with its focus on holistic, person-centered care, is uniquely positioned to address the complex needs of people with disabilities. However, many clinicians lack specialized training on how to effectively care for this population, leaving gaps in accessible and equitable care.

In this webinar, Sarah Quinto, MA, CFRE, shares practical strategies and best practices for clinicians so they can deliver equitable, high-quality palliative care to people with disabilities. Participants learn how to identify and address barriers to care, promote accessibility, and ensure person-centered care that respects the unique needs of this population. https://ow.ly/2ikC50Xyp8s

Health care workers are five times more likely than the average American worker to experience workplace violence (whether physical or verbal), but what we see on the surface is rarely the full story.

Earlier this year, we shared Dr. Jordan See's blog, which outlines the evidence‑based “CALMER” framework, which helps clinicians recognize patient agitation, respond with empathy, and defuse escalating emotion. A patient’s anger often masks fear, grief, or anxiety. In this new blog, Dr. Jordan See, shares the evidence-based CALMER framework to help clinicians recognize and de-escalate agitation.
