WOMEN AND WEIGHTLIFTING!

MYTH: Weight training will make me big and bulky:
We hear this concern almost daily…STILL!

FACT: Absolutely not! Weight lifting does not produce big bulky man-like muscles on women. What it does do is provide definition and tone, as well as strength and a rise in metabolism. Results every woman we speak to wants!
Testosterone is a hormone that both men and women have running through their bodies, but men have much more testosterone than women do. Testosterone is the primary factor that enables men to build muscle the way they do. Women simply do not produce enough testosterone to build and bulk the same way as men.
When the average woman starts a weight lifting program what happens is that her muscles become tighter, more compact and dense. Her metabolism increases so her body becomes a more efficient fat “burner”.
When a body “burns fat,” that means every fat cell is shrinking. Kind of like balloons do when you slowly let the air out. Having smaller fat cells will result in a thinner layer of fat lying on top of your muscle. When you have a thinner layer of fat the definition and tone of the muscles will be visible!
So not only will weight lifting NOT make you bigger and bulkier…quite the opposite! You’ll have tighter, harder and more compact muscles combined with a thinner layer of fat on top!
