Hello KBF Friend's & Family,

The Kalief Browder Foundation wants to thank you for your support and courage as we have moved through the past four (4) years together. We started this organization to continue the legacy & work of Kalief Browder. The KBF understands that moment in history was created when [He], Kalief, decided to speak out regarding the rights of the innocent until proven guilty. With His sacrifice, a window of opportunity was opened that revealed the inhuman treatment of people in the “Justice System” and the communities that they come from. The necessity to be heard was strong in Kalief. The stories of Kalief opened the door for more survivors to be heard! Thank you for listening. We were all given the task to listen and when we did… It broke our heart’s.

However, together we DEMANDED JUSTICE!

In the wake of Kalief's sacrifice we have listened as well.
You went to our website, called our line, visited our social media and emailed us to provided us with your experiences, offered your support with volunteering at our events and we gratefully appreciate that you helped through your contributions consistently to pull together the resources we needed to work at the issues we face with our youth and young adults and all who came to our family.

Now, after experiencing over a year of unprecedented traumatic events due to COVID-19 and all that transpired in it’s arrival, the KBF, just like you, has begun to rebuild. TOGETHER. We have all lost tremendously in the past year and a half and no one should go through this alone. This is why during our lockdown period we began restructuring internally. We adjusted with the change and now the return to face-to-face encounters/ business and schooling we believe that another change is necessary. It’s a time to grow together. United. So, the KBF looks forward to Us being closer than before.

We are rebuilding our board and taking applications to cover the needs that have come up. This is an opportunity to become active and involved with keeping Kalief’s Legacy alive in a way that is more hands-on. We welcome you to become a part of our internal structure to help us, help them!

The KBF organizes its Board members through the use of committees. Take a look into which committee would suit your field of experience and expertise in order to get started.

1. Leadership
2. Mental Health
3. Youth Services
4. Education & Culture
5. Fundraising
6. Legal Team
7. Graphic Design/Marketing
8. Volunteer Committee

Respond with your chosen committee and we will begin acclimating you to your new teammates. This work is not yet over and won't be until a new definition of justice, that serves for all people is delivered and equity for all is achieved.

Thank You and Best Regards
The KBF Team

What was the cost of a back pack for Kalief Browder? For Kalief, it was a death sentence but for youth across America it changes everything comes witness his legacy!

To the supporters, friends & family of the
Kalief Browder Foundation;

We have all had such a tremendous year in 2020 and experienced a lot with you all. From the beginning of this year
• January 2020 fighting to not allow the senate of NY repeal our Criminal Justice Reform Bills which you’ve helped us fight for. Going to Albany 2019-2020
• This terrible COVID-19 Pandemic that continue to sweep this world in waves that we’ve been raising money to buy mask for those in need in really vulnerable positions like our brothers and sisters in jails and prisons (which we provided boxes of 5,000+ to industries like the prison industrial complexes; YAMA (the local neighborhood Deli’s which helped our neighbors continue their days working and supermarkets across the city of NY.
• We fought and STILL continue to fight the State of New York to END SOLITARY CONFINEMENT the practice of torture in the wealthiest state in the U.S. which is and always will be baffling...
• Protesting with the People Against Police Brutality and the Defunding of Police departments in order to re-allocate funds into the communities predominantly displaced, disenfranchised and defunded.

And so much more that we have dedicated from working with those we need to put in office to make changes to the corruption and those already in office to advocate their relationships with the people to do what we, the community needs and wants!
All in all this was is a BATTLE! And we cannot & will not stop fighting because for Me, the Kalief Browder Foundation and for those that believe in the work we are doing; we WONT allow Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Kalief Browder or any of the 164 unarmed, wrongfully accused and gone too soon lives leave this earth in vain.
We thank you; I thank you from the deepest parts of my soul for your time with us, dedication to change with us and from my family to yours we are grateful for your contributions to ensure Kalief Legacy continues. Please help us start this coming year just as strong if not stronger with any donations you can make.

With the Governor pushing for an "accelerated" budget process, bail reform is at risk of being rolled back in the budget this week. We cannot allow that happen, especially when the risks of being held in jail or prison are higher than ever with the spread of COVID-19.
Call: (518) 474-8390
“Hello, my name is ____ and I’m a New Yorker. I’m calling to express my dismay that the Governor is calling for rollbacks to bail reform. I strongly support the new bail and discovery laws, which are already making New York fairer, safer, and more just. [You can also add any other reasons you support the new law.] As new studies have show, bail reform rollbacks will increase pretrial incarceration and disproportionately harm Black New Yorkers. We have to keep moving forward for justice. I’m asking Governor Cuomo to commit to stand up for what is right publicly commit to not pushing for rollbacks or changes to the bail and discovery laws, particularly in the budget. Will you [call me back/email me] with that commitment? Thank you.”
