We are are investigating an existing oral therapy that could help slow the process of ovarian aging and delay the onset of menopause.

The VIBRANT study aims to evaluate the use of a low dose of the mTOR inhibitor rapamycin as a way to slow down the release of eggs from women’s ovarian reserve, thereby slowing ovarian aging.
We are looking for women between the ages of 35 and 45 years who have regular menstrual periods. The study is double-blind and placebo-controlled, with participants randomized to receive either weekly oral rapamycin or a placebo, and both the participants and investigators blinded to the assignment.

Our Story

Columbia University Fertility Center is a group practice staffed by full-time faculty of Columbia University in New York City. At Columbia Fertility, we are committed to helping patients find ways to achieve pregnancy. In fulfilling this objective, we strive to provide patients with the best possible clinical care and related support services. Advanced infertility care at Columbia Fertility involves an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, embryologists, and administrative, billing, reception, and support staff, all of whom are committed to our philosophy of care. We are one of the largest and longest-standing infertility centers in New York and in the nation. Expanded financial access to services is made possible through our various managed care contacts, patient financing, and participation in the New York State Department of Health Infertility Demonstration Program. Our fertility clinic helps women and couples who are trying to conceive, and specializes in both basic treatment methods, such as Clomid cycles, male factor infertility, and artificial insemination (IUI), as well as more advanced forms of treatment ,including in vitro fertilization (IVF) and frozen embryo transfer (FET). We perform preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and work to treat a number of conditions such as endometriosis and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Our center also specializes in challenging cases and is known to accept patients whose prognosis for success is low.
