Please support the New York City Retirees Carpenters Guild.
Share the link with all members and especially Retirees you may know, even if they are not living Local. Our Brothers and Sisters live all over the country and still have our Union in their hearts. We deserve an honorable place to share our concerns and legacy. Our Council is following the DOGE initiative without any fight especially that Retirees are not a "special" group.
Retirees will unite and continue to be the true Stewards of our history for future Carpenters.
Long live the Carpenters Union! ✊️

Happy Thanksgiving from the NYCDCC

My fellow brothers and sisters,

During this season of gratitude, it is fitting to remember the foundation upon which this great union is built. We don’t have to look further than our emblem to remember the values and ideals that we uphold every day in the workplace and in our own lives. Appropriately, we vow to live by the Golden Rule: “To do unto others as we would wish others to do unto us.” It is also fitting not only to share how thankful I am to work alongside such a committed group of talented carpenters, but also to share how I see your commitment to living out the values of our union manifesting in the communities in which live and build. While too numerous to mention, this past year, so many of you have given back to neighborhoods and families across the five boroughs, Long Island, New York State, New Jersey, and even in other countries. From building a farm stand in Far Rockaway for families to buy fresh produce, to helping Hurricane Dorian survivors to rebuild their homes and lives in the Bahamas, to handing out turkeys and meals throughout New York City so families could put food on the table this Thanksgiving, your handprint reaches far and wide. And all of this is after working long, strenuous days away from your families. Your dedication does not go unnoticed. On behalf of the District Council and it’s 20,000 members, I thank you.

Now, as we take the time to sit down with family and friends and remember all that we are thankful for, let us give thanks for rights we have because of our union. The District Council is dedicated to guaranteeing that every worker in our represented trades has rights in the workplace, a fair wage, a healthy family, and hope for the future. For so many non-union construction workers, that is simply not a reality. Because of our union, we can take our children to the doctor when they are ill. Because of our union, we can provide for our families and maintain shelter over our heads. And because of our union, we can rest easier knowing that our futures are planned for. This year has thrown its unique set of challenges at us and we were able to meet each one head on through careful planning and by coming together as a team.

I am thankful for having the support of YOU — my brothers and sisters — each step of the way.
So, enjoy this time with loved ones. Take time to reflect on what is most important to you and your family and know that your union family is always here for you. There is strength in solidarity. Thank you and have a happy and safe holiday.

In Solidarity,
Joseph Geiger
Executive Secretary-Treasurer
