New York City Nutrition Education Network (NYCNEN) seeks a creative NYC-based Communications/Social Media Intern to support the organization’s outreach and promotional efforts. Intern will have the opportunity to learn about the food and nutrition landscape of NYC, from clinical to community, food justice, to food policy as well relationship building with organizations and individuals across the city.
Tasks/projects may include, but are not limited to:
Social media/Mailchimp/content creation
Outreach: Build, organize, and manage contact lists for outreach related to promoting NYCNEN and its events.
Content Calendar: Creating a content calendar and/or campaigns
Event support: Assist in planning and/or ex*****on of in-person or virtual events.
Strategic Planning: Attend and contribute to brainstorming ideas to improve NYCNEN’s processes and work in NYC
Required/Desired Skills
Detail oriented
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and research skills
Ability to self-direct, prioritize, take initiative, and manage up
Proficient in using Google Suite, Zoom, Canva, Mailchimp, and Instagram; Other tech skills desired (e.g. live streaming / creating hybrid event experiences)
Interest in food and nutrition through the lens of equity and social justice
Interest in communications, event planning, and social media
Past marketing, social media, and communications experience is a plus
Commitment: Comms Intern position is a flexible, 1-year position with the opportunity to extend.
Compensation: Intern must be able to receive college credits NYCNEN will work with your college department to fulfill the required paperwork.
