“Does insurance actually get you the best physical therapy care?”

Short answer: No.

And most people don’t realize why…

Insurance companies don’t choose providers based on:

❌ outcomes
❌ experience
❌ time spent with patients
They choose based on: ✔️ cost
✔️ volume
✔️ how quickly they can move you through the system

That’s why so many people end up in clinics where:

You’re treated with 2–3 other patients at the same time
You spend more time with an aide than a doctor
Your program looks like everyone else’s
…and then wonder why they’re not getting better.

Here’s the truth most people aren’t told:

👉 You don’t have to let your insurance dictate your care.
👉 You are allowed to choose a provider based on quality—not just coverage.

“Runner’s knee” isn’t actually a knee problem… 👀
If you’ve been dealing with anterior knee pain while running, here’s the truth:

👉 Your knee is usually just the messenger.

The real issues are often coming from 3 places most runners overlook:

1️⃣ Your hips
If you can’t control your hip, your knee takes the hit.
Poor stability = more stress dumped into the front of the knee every step.

2️⃣ Your foot/ankle
Lack of control or stiffness changes how force travels up your leg.
Your knee ends up absorbing what your foot should be handling.

3️⃣ Your strength (or lack of it)
Running is thousands of single-leg reps.
If you don’t have the strength to absorb and produce force… something is going to get overloaded.

Most runners stretch, foam roll, or just “run through it”…
…but never actually assess these 3 things.
That’s why it keeps coming back.

If you’re dealing with knee pain right now, ask yourself:

✔️ Has anyone actually looked at my hip control?
✔️ My foot mechanics?
✔️ My ability to handle load?

If not… that’s where you start.

Every step you take while running = force hitting your body.

Now multiply that by: 🏃‍♂️ ~10,000–15,000 steps in a half marathon.

🏃‍♂️ ~20,000–30,000 steps in a marathon.

That’s a LOT of force your body needs to absorb.

👉 Most injuries we see aren’t just from “overuse”
They’re from a lack of force absorption capacity
Your body simply isn’t prepared for the demand.

We want to give a huge shoutout to Iris as she wraps up her clinical internship with our team at Fit Club! 👏

Over the past few weeks she has done an incredible job working alongside our doctors of physical therapy, helping our patients move better, get stronger, and return to the activities they love. Our patients truly enjoyed working with her and appreciated the care and energy she brought to every session.

Iris also delivered an excellent in-service presentation to our team and community partners, sharing her knowledge and contributing to the culture of learning and growth that we value so much at Fit Club.
