Meet Mango!
Mango is 1.5 years old and she is a very sweet girl. She came to us as a medical surrender, needing emergency life-saving surgery to remove a foreign object that was causing an intestinal obstruction. The mystery object ended up being a mini mango pit that was stuck for at least 4 weeks! She recovered very well and was back to her happy self within a few days.We have been fostering her for the past few months to get her back to an adequate weight and now she’s finally ready to find a new forever home!
We’re unsure what her breed is, but my best guess is a staffy mixed with a boxer. She’s got a big head with a small body and short legs. She’s like a mini pitbull.
Mango can be very shy at first when she meets new people, but once she warms up to you, she’s full of energy and is always looking for attention - there can never be enough pats for her! She LOVES to jump (and she reaches great heights for her little legs!) but we’re trying to train her out of it. She’s a calm quiet dog at home but once you start playing with her she gets very excited.
Mango walks well outside but gets very nervous with loud sounds. She was previously in a home with young children so we think she’d be fine with little ones, but she hasn’t interacted with any kids since we’ve had her.
We have not tried her around cats, but she seems curious whenever there’s one nearby.
Although she’s house-trained, she gets very nervous when she goes outside and gets distracted by everything and everyone around her. As a result sometimes we are outside with her for a while before she does her business. A quiet neighborhood with a yard would be her perfect environment.
Even though Mango loves attention, she is crate trained and can be left at home alone without causing trouble.
Mango has a sensitive tummy so we keep on a sensitive stomach diet which she will likely require life-long.
An ideal family for Mango would be open to getting pet insurance to cover for any unexpected medical illnesses. Mango came to us due to an unexpected surgery and the original owners were not able to cover her medical expenses. We would hate for her to be in the same situation again.
