INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AT THE TRIANA GROUP
The Triana Group and our joint-venture SESA SYSTEMS have several exciting internship opportunities in marketing & sales, operations management, and technology management.
Who We Are:
We are a Hybrid Business Development Firm. Since 2008, we have been a "Technology Connector" between one hundred technologies and thousands of companies.
To do so, we uniquely combine two sets of activities:
Market Analysis & Strategy Services;
Distribution & Representation.
We are currently introducing new technologies and suppliers to thousands of operational managers in industrial companies and healthcare organizations. While doing so, we also help technology providers gain market insights and market access.
Who is this Internship Program for?
This internship program is for students or recent graduates interested in experiencing an entrepreneurial, consulting, and/or small & midsize business environment while being exposed to interactions with major corporations.
Whether you are an undergrad or graduate students or recent graduate, you are welcome to apply. We will provide you with experiences that match your level.
We value and welcome diversity!
In addition, whatever your educational background, there could be an internship for you! For example: Business, Engineering including but not limited to Industrial Engineering, Graphic Design, Software Development, Psychology, Writing and Journalism, other!
Important! You must be: thoughtful, honest, hard-worker, methodical and organized, patient, extremely reliable, attentive to details, self-starter but also willing to follow guidance, and looking to learn in a hands-on manner. Whatever else you can bring to the table is great, but if not, no worries, you are joining to learn!
Compensation, Certificate of Completion, and Experiential Learning:
This post is exclusively for uncompensated internships. We know and we understand the need for compensation and part-time jobs, but this specific post isn't about that: if you are looking for paid opportunities or jobs, please Follow Us on LinkedIn as we sometimes circulate paid internships and/or job opportunities either for us or on behalf of other companies!
Your internship will either qualify for a "For Credit" status with your school, or if you are a foreign student in the US as an "OPT" as defined by the government, and/or will be a "Learning Opportunity for the Exclusive Benefit of the Intern" in compliance with the Department of Labor's requirements for uncompensated internships.
What does that mean?
It means that your internship will be based on "Experiential Learning" and "Active Learning" principles: You will receive a series of assignments that provide Hands-On learning opportunities. We encourage you to keep a daily learning Journal, so that you can submit to us an "Internship Learning Report". This can result in a Certificate of Completion. That certificate isn't an official diploma, but it does document your learning and could come handy! Read more below...
Since 2008, we have hosted several generations of interns, all of whom successful. We strongly support our greatest interns in their future careers, grad school applications, etc. Some interns have continued with us through paid positions during one or more years, for a smooth transition into their professional career, but most have continued into their studies and/or successfully joined a wide range of companies (from VC-funded startups to Amazon and more!).
Approved expenses are reimbursed or directly paid by the company.
Format & Duration:
You are not in NY or not even in the US? No problem!
Internships are remote and can be based anywhere in the world. Meetings happen through Google Hangouts with shared screens so there can be a strong level of interaction.
We request a commitment for at least 20 hours per week for a period of at least 6 weeks (preferably 12 to 14 weeks). If you need to start with less than 20 hours per week, or a certain flexibility during specific periods such as Exams, we can accommodate that. We are open to longer internships.
Hours can be completed at any time of the day and of the week.
Topics:
Depending on your major and interests, activities you can learn and practice range from:
Marketing, Sales & Business Development: Ranges from market research and lead generation to lead qualification (segmentation and targeting), preliminary qualification (segmentation), database development, online marketing, social media, website and documentation design, multimedia content production and distribution, CRM software, webinars, SEO, SEM, copy editing, relationships with blogs and media, e-commerce, web design and minor web development (html and other).
Administration & Operations Management: Students pursuing backoffice operational management roles will be assigned corresponding learning experiences (customer support and logistics, administrative processes, documenting processes and updating training manuals, etc.) This might overlap with other functions such as database development and CRM management (updating and maintaining proper records).
Industrial Engineering: Interns interested in Process Engineering, Continuous Improvement, and Lean Manufacturing, can be assigned to projects for our joint-venture SESA SYSTEMS. We work in collaboration with Lean Consulting Firms and the operational teams of some of the world's best industrial companies.
Technology Management: We regularly have projects related to technology. This includes identification of technologies relevant to our company or to our clients, benchmarking, exploring potential collaborations, preparation of pre-sales educational presentations and webinars, preparing "use-cases". It can also involve learning about cutting edge technologies, identifying and defining Proof-of-Concept opportunities for certain technologies with counterparts, and learning how to explain, how to demo, and perhaps how to set up certain software. This can overlap with other functions, such as website development (knowledge of html and other languages is ideal) and implementation of automation in certain processes (through simple tools such as Zapier, or other more advanced options if qualified for them.)
Please note: in small & midsized business, everyone may wear multiple hats! If you apply, you should be open to various assignments (which could broaden your learning experience.) On the other hand, some assignments can be quite repetitive (and that's a learning experience too), so again, this is an internship for you if you are flexible, adaptable, and a happy camper like us!
