This family had a virtual session with one of our IBCLCs Ina Bransome. The session focused on implementing baby-led paced bottle feeding, learning to observe baby’s cues, introducing digestion breathers to help baby throughout the feeding. Until this session baby had been spitting up at every feeding.

Taught 3 Digestion Break positions: *Forward Facing out
*Kneeling over mom’s belly (for use in side-lying) and,
*The Everything Position

Ina was also able to guide mom on some breastfeeding positions including laid back positioning and then side-lying!! in a virtual consult!! How cool is that. 🌸

Day 5 of life ✨And from across the pond in the UK 🇬🇧 Ina Bransome is honored to be providing virtual private support *before* baby arrived so that this precious baby was greeted by parents with tools and insights from our Newborn KnowHow package.

This work is both a calling and a privilege. Being invited in to meet a family during this overwhelming and life changing time in their lives is humbling and very moving. I absolutely love being able to share useful insights, provide perspective and equip families with the tools they need to thrive. As with so much in life there is no one right way. It’s a gentle ebb and flow, like labor and birth, but slower and over a much longer span of time.

This baby is doing an amazing job learning to feed at breast and we added the supplemental nursing system to the mix so baby can maximize caloric intake while also building mom’s supply.

for many, the ar**la expands and darkens. A bullseye for babies early efforts to latch. This baby did so beautifully. We have an instinct to latch and nurse just like we have an instinct to move our bodies to music. But it still takes practice, and support, to establish a blissful feeding partnership.

This mama is reshaping the family story. The first to breastfeed in recent family history, and not only is her baby eight months and thriving, her family now attributes her growth and smarts to breastfeeding. But most of all, mama reports that breastfeeding her daughter keeps herself calm, gives her a sense of connection that is unlike anything else. And we all know, that the bond created between parent and child fortifies us for the beautiful journey ahead.

I am so grateful to have been called to this family in her early days at home. Each family we serve creates a stronger community network.
