This page is about healing. Today I'm talking about healing the fear, the pain of a nation that many of us are feeling after the election, both on a personal level and as a nation. I've heard many people asking the question "how do I move forward now?" I'm struggling with this and want to share my thoughts. I don't want to talk about winners and losers, only healing.
I'm afraid. For myself, my children, the future of this country. I see many people writing about letting go, about healing with love. Those are wise words but before this can happen we have to understand where the fear comes from. I've meditated on my feelings, allowed my body to guide me in asana practice and found no heart opening. Not yet. There's a lack of trust. Because I'm not only afraid of what the government may do, I'm afraid of what my neighbors may do, my fellow Americans. So before we can heal, we have to find a common ground, a way back to a basic human understanding that underneath all the differences we are all the same - human, flesh and blood, male or female, black, white, Muslim, Christian, all the same. Perhaps it's Pollyannish, utopian to want, to hope that this is possible but it's the only way to heal..
