The Listening Body The Alexander Technique, Past Life Regression, Healing Bodywork, Reiki & Yoga

DEEP MEMORY PROCESS® is Past Life Regression work that gives you that opportunity to go back, look at what is blocking you, and release it through all the bodies and fields. This work addresses the story of that complex pattern that is affecting you NOW in yourself, in your relationships, in your body. In the process of the exploration, the original source of trauma that imprinted the soul is retrieved, healed and re-integrated. When the blocked energy is released, a healing occurs on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Consciousness and somatic awareness is brought to issues that may have been illusive and re-establishes a stronger connection to one's self. Bodywork is a helpful follow up and consistent and enjoyable way to become more aware of your body and to release the stresses. A yoga practice is a way to keep chipping at the patterns, embrace your whole self with Love and enjoy the movement!

Don't let the Grinch of Habits steal your Holiday cheer!

The holidays have a way of stirring up more than joy. Expectations, family dynamics, and old roles can sneak in like the Grinch and drain your energy before you even arrive. Many of us feel the subtle dread -- the pressure to show up, behave, buy, and smile. It's no wonder some people want to avoid the whole thing.

I know that feeling well. Many years ago, visiting family, I once had to go into my mother's sewing room just to do some somatic work, so I could rejoin the gathering without shutting down. Back in the 80's and 90's, we didn't have language for triggers, or self-care as we do now. I was navigating it on my own while building my own healing practice -- healer heal thyself.

Try this breathing sequence to call you attention back to the present moment and into your body:
Inhale four counts, hold four counts, exhale six counts, three times.
Then breathe normally and let the adjustment recover.
Repeat the 4 -4- 6 two more times with recovery in-between.
So, you're doing the sequence 3 times 3. Allow the breath to recover after the sequence, and see if you are more present with yourself in the moment, and allowing your energy to move. If you need to, excuse yourself from the gathering and do it in the bathroom. And rejoin the gathering, more aware, connected and relaxed.

Thankfully, these conversations of what is going on inside us are easier now. And practices like the Alexander Technique offer a simple way to interrupt old patterns -- without drama, without 'fixing', and without changing your clothes. As I guide someone through everyday movements like sitting, standing, or lifting an arm, their habits, and the tension therein reveal themselves. So does their ability to let go.

FM Alexander was teaching this work as far back as the 1920's -- helping people notice the unconscious habits that shape how they move, react and relate; even notable people like the playwright George Bernard Shaw. Today we look at screens for hours and wonder why our back hurts! These patterns don't disappear on their own. The longer we wait, the more deeply wired they become, like a groove in a record.

So, if the season feels tight, tense, or emotionally charged, consider giving yourself something that actually lasts: awareness, ease and space to move differently. You're worth that kind of investment for 2026!

Our Story

My learning about the bodymind has come through a wide range and depth of studies, activities and many years of experience, capped off by the three year teacher certification training of the Alexander Technique. If there's a single process that teaches someone to facilitate healthful change through touch and movement training, in my cumulative experience of many modalities, it's the Alexander Technique. From the classroom and self study to the stage and inner screen, every phase of my life has in-formed my integration and coordination. The right use of my movement is transmitted to the student's whole self through their head/neck/back relationship, assisted by my hands-on thinking.

Cate's Healing Scoliosis and Art Story:

At the age of 14, I proclaimed to my parents I wanted to be an actor and I set about auditioning at the local community arts center. Simultaneously we discovered my spine was diverting from its straight path, the early beginnings of S-curve scoliosis. Since I had always been a mover/dancer (ballet and modern), I begin stretching on the living room floor constantly and made up exercises to counteract the developing pain. I refused to allow a cast or Herrington rod, amazingly, my parents let me handle it.

I arrived in NYC after college graduation and two years post- grad studying acting in London, I auditioned for 5 years with an agent but was not artistically fulfilled. I turned to writing poetry and then painting showed up, then someone introduced me to Contact Improvisation(dancing) and I performed at downtown venues. I continue to show work at Dixon Place. I became licensed in massage therapy in 1991 which afforded a flexible schedule for continuing my arts and delving deeply into healing my spine and heart. The healing and art work was intertwined and interdependent, for example, a painting I did based on an image that came to me while receiving bodywork, became the cover of my first published collection of poetry, Separation and Return. I came to uncover, release and unwind the deep emotional pain that was stored in the tissues through several kinds of healers and somato-emotional work. In pursuit of my own healing gave me many insights and compassion into working with others, ‘healer heal thyself’. By giving up the putting on the masks of character, my choice for living in a body with less pain, had me deconstructing my own masks! AdditionalIy I was certified in: Cranio-Sacral®, Body-Mind Centering®, Reiki, Pilates, Yoga and Deep Memory Process®; diversifying my bodywork and movement practices in tandem with my personal healing process.
