Some places are more than buildings.
They are time capsules with speakers. 🎶

This weekend, I had the honor of being a vendor at the Farewell Event for The Colosseum in Jamaica, Queens. The send off was powerful. The energy felt like a family reunion mixed with a graduation ceremony for an era.

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards came out to honor the legacy of The Colosseum, reminding us how deeply this space has shaped generations in our borough.”

As I stood there with Beautiful Amore Skincare, serving customers under my tent, I had a full circle moment.

I remember being a teenager in Summer Youth Employment, spending my entire paycheck at The Colosseum. Every dollar. Clothes, sneakers, jewelry. It was the place. It shaped confidence. It shaped culture. It shaped Queens.

Years later, I returned not as a shopper, but as a business owner. A Black woman entrepreneur. A vendor contributing to the very ecosystem that once poured into me.

That is the power of community spaces. They incubate dreams long before you realize you’re dreaming.

The Colosseum may be closing its doors, but its impact lives on in every entrepreneur, every creative, every young person who found their style, their hustle, or their voice there.

Grateful to have been part of the final chapter.
