Getting to work with people like Shnita is why we do what we do! An incredible teacher, mother, and SCI advocate, Shnita is an inspiration to us all.

If you or someone you know is interested in following in Shnita’s footsteps, visit the link in our bio and contact a research coordinator (lauren.kinne@va.gov) to get involved!

💡PARTICIPANT SPOTLIGHT💡

Shana is an artist and spinal cord injury advocate who has infused our center with brightness and color through both her participation in studies AND her beautiful artwork!

Shana’s piece ‘A Spinal Symphony of Hope and Resilience’ (Slide 3) is a symbolic representation of her experience having a spinal cord injury and volunteering here at the JJPMC Spinal Cord Damage Research Center, where the piece hangs proudly in our entrance.

We are so grateful to Shana and all of our participants who bring their unique talents and creativity to the Bronx VA. Be sure to stop by and see Shana’s artwork and learn more about our ongoing research!
