The best defense against cholesterol
Did you know it?
According to a Spanish proverb, "A man greatly loved by a woman is spared from death." In other words, love, especially strong love, can become a true guardian angel for the beloved. It seems even materialistic scientists are beginning to believe in this.
At Ohio State University, doctors conducted routine experiments on laboratory rabbits. The animals were fed fatty foods to deliberately induce excessive cholesterol in their blood. By the end of the experiment, all the rabbits indeed showed early signs of atherosclerosis, except for a few. Scientists couldn't understand why some fell ill while others didn't. It was later revealed that the lab assistant feeding this particular group of rabbits would take them out of their cages daily, hold them, and stroke them while speaking affectionate words. Surprisingly, this was enough to neutralize the detrimental effects of unhealthy food.
American physiologist Dr. L. Dosey, who described this case in the book "Space, Time, and Medicine," commented on it: "Touch, stroking, and affectionate speech served as mitigating factors in the development of the disease, from which many of us are likely to die someday – atherosclerosis." In other words, protection against deadly doses of cholesterol was provided by... love."
