good for what ails you . . . What has now become a hot new trend is actually an ancient remedy practiced by many cultures throughout the world. Bone broth has wonderful resorative and healing properties. You can easily make your own broth and will see and feel the benefits in a short time. It's great to see chefs making this broth available to those who don't have the time to make their own.

You might not be thinking about your seasonal allergies today in the midst of this snowstorm but this post still applies - some good tips for seasonal allergies, links to nipping a cold in the bud (Chinese medicine style) and more . . .
If you are like me, your body has been confused by the dramatic weather changes of late. This is my first season in decades where I’ve had seasonal allergies, a flu and a cold. It's true that I've been burning the candle at both ends. I've also been spending a lot of time in a jewelry studio with no fresh air and a lot of tool sharing - a great petri dish for germs. Now that I've implemented some simple holistic toolsI the improvement is immediately tangible. I hope you'll do the same.
Some clinic news:
*Take advantage of my last minute booking discount. Openings in my schedule within 24 hours will be listed on my online calendar with a 10% discount off of my office visit fee. *Saturday hours in my Washington Heights office have been extended. I now see patients from 9-2pm
*Don't forget that I am in my Flat Iron office on Tuesdays & Thursdays
*I am an Oxford & Cigna provider and accept patients with UHC and BCBS coverage out of network. I'm happy to check your coverage for you.
Happy Spring blizzard!

Does the sight of a dandelion inspire you to make a wish or run for the hills? Scratchy throat, watery/itchy eyes, sneezing, headaches, sinus pressure - UGH! Who told you that you had to resign yourself to a lifetime of suffering and over the counter medications that leave you foggy headed

The Ancestor Series was inspired by a small piece of Roman road discovered underneath the soil at my friend Giulietta's farm in Tuscany. This series is part of the Materia Medica line and is created from the herb
ZHI ZI 栀子JASMINE FRUIT

MATERIA MEDICA-Inspired by the history of Chinese herbalism, which dates back thousands of years, each piece in the line is cast directly from a medicinal plant and evokes the healing properties of the plants from which they are derived. Creating a relationship through intention and physical touch, the restorative principles of Chinese herbs can be worn on the body as a healing talisman.

Mni Wiconi!

Relatives - we are joining with Arvol as we ask for prayers tomorrow!

The future generations need your prayers!

From Arvol Looking Horse,
19th Generation Keeper of Sacred White Buffalo Canupa

Right away I woke remembering our history of abuses we have suffered from the continued need from Mother Earth's Resources. My heart is heavy today, for what we are all facing together with tomorrow's deadline in the removal of the Standing Rock's Camps.
Today I would like to support my kola Mitch Walking Elk's call in the gathering of the people tonight at 7pm and send prayers together in the world for healing.

Today I would like to support my kola Mitch Walking Elk's call in the gathering of the people tonight at 7pm and send prayers together in the world for healing.

Because of the seriousness of this situation, I humbly would like to once again call upon all the Religious/Spiritual Leaders, URI and the People who traveled to Standing Rock's sacred fire on December 4th. (Sari At Uri) Pray with us at your own sacred places for Mother Earth, her Mni wic'oni (water of life) and the protection of our People who are still at the Standing Rock Camps.

We also need to remember healing for those who are making these dangerous decisions that have only ended up abusing all life.

I too will stand in the sacred place with our Sacred Bundle to offer prayers - if anyone would like to join me by bringing offerings to the Bundle, they are welcome - @ 2:00pm mountain time on Wednesday February 22, 2017.

Please pray with us where ever you are upon Mother Earth.
Mother Earth is a Source of Life - Not a Resource.

The Community Activism Knitting Group is on for Wednesday, 2/22 from 12-3pm
All are welcome!
If you would like to learn how to knit, or brush up if you feel rusty please come by. Conversation is centered on the health benefits of a meditative practice & the history of handwork as a form of activism. We are also exploring how to segue the group into warm weather handwork projects to continue our efforts to support and build community and relationship with our less fortunate neighbors.
If you would like to knit our head/neckwarmer pattern please bring thick yarn and (9mm) needles. Any questions - please fb message me or email at info@jeanneatkin.com

Important history!

"Brother Mutulu Shakur is a Doctor of Acupuncture. (As in Tu Pacs stepfather) As an acupuncturist and health care worker, Brother Shakur worked for and lead the Lincoln Hospital Detoxification Program in the Bronx in New York from 1971 to ‘78. Then, from 1978 to 1982 Dr. Shakur was the co-founder and co-director of the Black Acupuncture Advisory Association of North America, also known as BAAANA and the Harlem Institute of Acupuncture. 100s of acupuncturist were trained thanks to the work by Dr. Shakur."
