Hi! Wanted to say hello and give a little backstory on this pic. Before Alexis was born I would visit my midwife, JoAnn at this office. Well 6 years later we found ourselves at the footsteps of 1622. My experience with La Leche League began when I attended one of their first meetings with my daughter, who at the time was 2 weeks old.

That day there was another mother who had been having a hard time breastfeeding her newborn as well. There was an extended breastfeeder in the group who asked the mother to meet with her for a few minutes to try to help her with latching and positioning of the baby.

That day the woman had a successful latch and baby left the meeting breastfed. While it’s true that this may not be the case most of the time. Because let’s face it, trying to have baby latch and start breastfeeding can be really tough and has its many challenges. But I will never forget that day. As it left an impression on just how important it is for women to be their for other women in time of distress or in need of support.

La Leche League offers a community of support and they also encourage partners to attend meetings as well to support mama on her breastfeeding journey. Visit their site at www.lll.org to find a support group near you.

If you live in NYC www.lllny.org for support groups in and around the different boroughs.
