Global architecture firm opens Miami office, to serve as Latin America hub 🏙️
As seen in South Florida Business Journal
A global architecture firm has expanded to Miami, with plans to run the new office as a hub for projects across Latin America.
London-based Foster + Partners has leased 5,205 square feet of space in the Design 41 building, at 112 N.E. 41st St. in the Miami Design District. The office comprises 3,405 square feet of interior space, in an open floor plan, plus 1,800 square feet of exterior patio space. The company recently completed its move-in.
Douglas Elliman’s 𝐉𝐨𝐲𝐜𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐨 represented the tenant. DWNTWN Realty Advisors’ Tony Arellano and Joe Fernandez represented the landlord, Design District Development Partners, managed by Benjamin R. Norton in Sarasota. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
This marks Foster + Partners’ fourth U.S. location, after New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The firm plans to use Miami as a base to manage its projects in the U.S. South, as well as across the Caribbean and Latin America. As part of the expansion, Foster + Partners named Juan Frigerio as principal of the Miami office. Frigerio, who comes to Miami from the firm’s Buenos Aires office, now leads a team of 10 employees in Miami, a mix of local hires and staff relocations.
“We think Florida and Miami will continue to grow, so we wanted to be part of it,” Frigerio told the Business Journal.
Foster + Partners plans to double its South Florida headcount to 20 employees by the end of next year, according to Frigerio. He said that will likely involve both more local hires and additional staff relocations. For the Miami office, the firm considered other locations in Wynwood, Brickell, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables, but ended up selecting the Design District in part due to its central location.
