Did you know that babies inside the uterus have a different circulatory system?? This design is so fascinating and in this new blog post it is described. How is it that the oxygenated blood and nutrients from the parent travels through the umbilical cord, nourishes baby and then evacuates the deoxygenated blood and waste out. How is it that this system then shifts from fetal to when the is born? ✨Check out it on the blog on my website to learn more…. I hope you enjoy❤️.

👶🏼Acrocyanosis: Bluish hands and feet due to adjusting circulation.
👶🏽Baby Acne: Hormone-related blemishes that clear up on their own.
👶🏾Lanugo: Fine hair on the body, common in early-born babies, which falls out naturally.

This is a beautiful moment captured by .co where a daughter observes her mother give to her brother. She is embraced by her aunt and they are both witnessing this birth unfold. This family like so many others who plan a went through the process of preparing their child appropriately for what birth looks like. They normalized the setting, the sounds but also had a plan of their daughter in case she would not want to be present in the same room where the birth was occurring. This beautiful soul chose to move back and forth from the birthing room to her room. She wasn’t afraid, she was embraced by her family and felt safe. This family knew what their daughter needed and gave her the space to choose where to be. Every family is different and every sibling in the family is different. When a homebirth it is so important to prep your kids for the event and have a plan for them. Sometimes the plan is for them not to be present and that’s OK too. Whatever works for one family might be completely different for another. Answer their questions and try to involve them appropriately but on their own terms without forcing it. Use age appropriate language and visual aids to explain things to them. ✨If you want some ideas for how to approach this and recommendations for books and videos, check out my new blog post on the topic✨ Thank you .raines for allowing me to share this moment 😘

****GRAPHIC PHOTOS WARNING*** Celebrating the incredible power and beauty of life! 🌸✨ The placenta, nature’s unsung hero, plays a vital role in nurturing and protecting your baby. This amazing organ forms during pregnancy, providing oxygen and nutrients to the growing baby while removing waste. It’s a lifeline that connects mother and baby, showcasing the remarkable intricacies of nature. Let’s honor the placenta and the magical connection it fosters. After the placenta is birthed it is examined by your birth attendant to make sure it has come out completely. It comes in many shapes and sizes, and when I do this examination I like to show the families (if interested of course) this beautiful creation that nurtured baby throughout the pregnancy
