Did yall know the idea that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” was actually a marketing strategy? This phrase didn’t come from doctors or nutritionists—it was popularized in the early 1900s by food industry giants, especially those in the meat and cereal businesses. A key player? Edward Bernays, the father of public relations, who was hired by a pork company to boost bacon sales. His campaign claimed a hearty breakfast (eggs and bacon) was essential for good health—and we fell for It.

That’s why to this day, we associate breakfast with bacon, sausage, steak, chicken and other meats. But here’s the catch: the body is still in detox mode during the early morning hours (7AM-12PM). Flooding it with heavy meats and saturated fats right after waking up can actually disrupt your natural digestion, drain your energy, and contribute to long-term health issues.

It’s wild how marketing shaped our eating habits, right? Maybe it’s time to rethink what we really need in the morning.
