Meet Dr. Stephanie Cohen Walsh, surgeon, healer, and co-founder of XO World Project Foundation.

Her expertise has earned her the nickname “breast whisperer” from colleagues and patients, a reflection of the compassion and skill she has brought to breast reconstruction for over 25 years. She has spent her career restoring not just bodies, but hope.

Yet her vision reached far beyond hospital walls. In 2008, she turned a lifelong dream into reality, bringing surgical care to children in underserved communities. From Kenya to Peru and Ghana to Egypt, she has operated on hundreds of children with cleft lips, burns, and conditions that once seemed hopeless. Each surgery, each journey, each smile became part of a greater mission: making quality healthcare accessible for all. 🌍

Through XO World Project Foundation, Dr. Cohen continues her mission, bringing healing hands, hopeful hearts, and life-changing care to communities too often left without it.

Her work is a reminder that true impact is built on heart, passion and service.

In many rural parts of Ghana, women and children still spend hours each day walking under the hot sun just to fetch a single bucket of water. This daily journey takes children away from classrooms and leaves mothers with little time for family or work.

Through our Water Project, we’ve seen the transformation nearby wells can bring. In villages where boreholes have been installed, children are back in school, women have time to build small businesses through our Economic Empowerment Program, and families no longer live with the constant fear of sickness from unsafe water.

But many communities in the Upper East and Upper West Regions of Ghana are still waiting. Families are still walking miles, and children are still missing out on education simply because water is out of reach.
