This photo was taken in one of those rare pauses. Not because the work was finished, but because their bodies needed a moment to catch up with their hearts. Hours on their feet, countless patients, endless needs… and still, they show up with steady hands and quiet strength. ❤️

Rest like this is short, but it matters. It’s what allows them to rise again, to walk back into the operating room, and to keep bringing hope where it’s needed most. More than ten years have passed since this photo was taken, but children like this are still the reason we keep returning. Severe burns don’t just scar the skin, they change how a child moves, grows, and experiences childhood. In every mission, our team meets children living with these injuries. Through surgeries, wound care, and rehabilitation, we work to ease their pain, restore mobility, and give them the chance to live beyond their scars. Their courage inspires us, and our commitment to them remains stronger than ever.

Here are some of our XO World Project Foundation team, incredible people who have chosen to leave their comfort, their families, and their daily routines to stand with communities in need. None of us come for recognition or reward. We come because deep down, we know that when someone is suffering, when a child is waiting for care, when a family is walking miles for water, we cannot look away.

For more than decades, we have stood together. These are the faces of people who said yes. Yes to long days, yes to rolling up their sleeves, yes to serving with compassion, and yes to being part of something greater than themselves. And together, we’ve seen lives change. We’ve seen fear turn into relief, pain turn into healing, and hopelessness turn into joy.

To every humanitarian, volunteer, and good soul reading this: you know this feeling. The quiet joy of giving, the bond of standing side by side, the reminder that humanity is at its best when we care for one another. 🙌

Peace is at the heart of XO World Project Foundation. The blue in our logo was chosen to remind us of that every single day.

But peace isn’t something far away or reserved for others, it’s something we all long for and can help create. It’s in the way we care for our families, how we show up for our neighbors, and how we choose kindness even in small moments.

For us, peace also looks like children receiving care, families drinking safe water, and women being given the chance to build their future. 🌍

Today, let’s pause and remember that peace starts with each of us. And when we choose love and compassion, we’re already building a more peaceful world together.

Every day, countless children in Ghana wake up not to the sound of school bells but to the long road ahead, miles of walking under the sun, carrying heavy containers just to bring water back home.

Clean water should be life’s simplest gift, yet for these children it becomes a heavy burden carried on their small shoulders, stealing their time, their health, and their chance at education.

Bravery comes in all sizes.

In this little girl’s courage, we’re reminded why our missions matter so deeply. Surgery is just one part of the journey, the other is making sure every child knows they are seen, cared for, and surrounded by love. For many of these children, the wait has been years... years of hoping, years of living with conditions that could be healed. To finally receive care is more than a procedure, it’s the start of a new chapter filled with hope.

Meet Rachel and Lisa! Two incredible pediatric nurses who’ve been with us since 2008 and 2012. They’ve joined countless medical missions through the years, and no matter where we go, they always bring light with them. Their laughter makes the hardest days easier, their joy lifts everyone around them, and their sisterhood is a reminder that healing comes not only through medicine, but through love. Together, they’ve touched the lives of children and families in every community we’ve served.
