Sheyi Ojofeitimi is co-owner of Synthesis Physical Therapy and senior physical therapist at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater where she coordinates the in-house program (screening, triage & backstage preventative therapy services) for the two companies and students. She spent 9 years at Long Island University’s Brooklyn campus where she served as senior research associate at the Analysis of Dance and Movement Center (ADAM Center), a biomechanics laboratory. There she was part of a team of physical therapists, biomechanists, computer scientists, and engineers who conducted biomechanical and epidemiologic research to aide in the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injury in dancers. Dr. Ojofeitimi is an certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist with a special interest in the treatment of lumbo-pelvic/sacro-coccygeal dysfunctions and visceral mobilization. She has worked with professional dancers for 13 years and she continues to enhance her clinical skills through manual therapy coursework pursing a certification in Functional Manual Therapy through the Institute of Physical Art. She has co-authored several dance medicine related peer-reviewed journal articles. Shaw Bronner, PT, PhD, OCS
Shaw Bronner is co-owner of Synthesis Physical Therapy, Director of the ADAM Center, Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Dept., Northeastern University, and Director of Physical Therapy services at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater where she created in-house program. The ADAM Center is a research laboratory dedicated to the study of human movement and dance, examining human movement from many perspectives including biomechanics, neuroscience, epidemiology, injury, and prevention and rehabilitation. Dr. Bronner uses a neuro-orthopaedic physical therapy treatment model incorporating the principles of motor learning and motor control combined with manual therapy. As a specialist in dance medicine, she has worked with dancers for over 20 years. This expertise benefits all her patients, from the athlete to those with neurologic problems.
