I have been prescribing women testosterone for the past 17 years and I’m so happy that finally it is becoming mainstream. The medical benefits of testosterone, which is not FDA approved for women in the US but has been used in Europe since 1935, include prevention of dementia, strengthening bones, building muscle and most of all in increasing overall energy. Women make testosterone and concentrations 10 times higher than estrogen naturally. Women are not often offered testosterone so we need to be our own advocates!

Why Building Muscle is the Most Important Thing You Can Do for Your Health

The importance of resistance training and building muscle cannot be overstated.

Every single morning, I tell my patients to ask themselves:
“How am I going to build muscle today?”

Why?
Because muscle is the single most important pillar of longevity—not just for how long you live, but for how well you live.

Once we start losing muscle mass—a process called sarcopenia—we begin to see cognitive decline, metabolic dysfunction, and a loss of independence. I tell my patients all the time:

“The amount of muscle you have is money in the bank.”
It’s your health savings account for the future.



💥 Muscle = Metabolic Health

What’s incredible is this: the markers of metabolic syndrome—high blood sugar, insulin resistance, inflammation—are the exact same markers that reflect poor skeletal muscle health.

As you build muscle, your labs improve.
Your inflammatory markers decrease.
Your risk for chronic disease drops.

For over 20 years, I’ve been saying:

“Inflammation is the cornerstone of all illness.”
Cancer. Dementia. Heart disease. Stroke.
They all share a common root: chronic inflammation.
And building muscle is one of the most effective, evidence-based ways to lower inflammation long-term.



🏋️‍♂️ It’s Not Complicated

By the time you’re 50, you should be doing at least:
➡️ One hour of resistance training, two times per week.

That’s it.

You don’t need fancy routines or complicated programs. You can stick to six foundational exercises to build the strength your body needs.

What you do need is consistency.
Just show up.
This is an investment in your brain, your heart, your energy, and your independence

Before starting the organization, these children had 100% rate of being victims of s*x trafficking and living on the streets.
The foundation builds computer centers and staffs them so that the children can gain skills by the time they are 18 years old, which is the age they no longer can reside in the orphanages.
Orphaned Starfish funds these digitally based education programs in 80 orphanages in 33 different countries. Now, these children have a 91% rate of going onto college and getting jobs.

We had the opportunity to visit four of the Orphaned Starfish programs in Panama.
It was such an emotional trip and I have agreed to take on a larger role with the organization. They will be starting their first Orphaned Starfish program in Israel.
