I am absolutely clueless about the stuff but behind the white covering can feel something hard like stone or a bit of a tile in two sections.

From the outside though the tiles all look fine in this area

Could something has fell between them?

The tile cut around the Velux is uneven, with gaps on some sides and touching the window frame on others. I'm also concerned with the gap around the pipe meant for a future extractor fan.

My neighbor can see light through their tiles and believes the roofer shifted the tiles to close the gap over the party wall. They've suggested the roofer should install ridge tiles between the two roofs. Should I cover the cost for that, or should it have been included in the original price?

Hi, the purlin on my roof snapped. Apparently the 2nd one is also on the way out. We have been quoted £20k ex Vat to replace all the roof with new wood andbre use the tiles. Its a Victoria mid terrace and includes scaffolding Does this seem a realistic amount?

Grateful for any tips to also help avoiding material going in the socket box - the plate isn't flush to the box, leaving a gap I'm worried filler etc. would run into..

Hi, I just wanted to check if anyone is aware of the building code for these outdoor decking stairs and if they'll be compliant. the landing zone is approx 40cm to the rainwater tanks and I feel like it's a bit close. Builder hasn't responded and we will be getting an inspector to review the entire house before final handover

Having our porch rebuilt and work is coming along decently, but came home from work today to see these initial 2x8 beams hung from the ledger board to the posts. This is a double beam, and joists will run horizontal between them so the porch boards can run perpendicular to the front of the house. Looking at these hangars, they look like maybe they are undersized? This is permitted work so it will be inspected, but wanted to address this with my contractor before the 2x6 joists go in tomorrow. I googled around a bit and these look like 2x6 hangars, not 2x8. What do the experts think?

Front porch steps. Is there a better way?
I'm replacing the steps on my front porch. I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with a way that keeps a consistent step rise. My current plan is to cut the stringer at the red line. Then build up the base/pad to make up the distance of the green line, which is about 4". This puts the top of the stringer steps flush with the blue line, making the porch deck the last step and the same rise as each of the other steps. I'm just concerned about the extra rise on the first step. is that too much extra rise? is there a better way to solve this?

Recently had some work done on a home I own (I don't live local). Small town, few contractor choices, but finally found someone to build some stairs as the concrete stairs were in disrepair. He convinced me that building over them would be fine and cheaper. This is the end result (he did lay concrete for the final step after).

Does this look as shoddy as I think it does? Main issues are that the rails don't line up with the original porch, and it doesn't match. Thoughts on how to proceed?
