For those of you not playing the home game with me, I've been living in Miami since the middle of June and expect that to continue for several months. I have been caring for my critically ill mother having had a couple weekends off. This is not a situation where she will recover. Nor is it a situation where she is going to die. No need for speedy recovery wishes, that's not in the cards. I'm cleaning up her past, guarding her present, and creating a path for her next chapter.
Unfortunately, I was to attend the wedding of very dear friends but cannot leave due to Milton. We're as ready as possible. We have homes on both coasts of Florida. We are in the area that Hurricane Ian nailed. That place is as prepared as possible. I've done all the things for the tropical storm we'll experience here in Miami. I'm an old hand at hurricanes-- you can't be a Florida coastal girl and not know. I consider myself fortunate for the full tank of gas, having handled all the outdoor everything, and food is being prepped in case of electric outages.
I hope everyone on the west coast has come inland or left Florida. Milton, with it's tiny little eye, is not playing. I'm thinking of all of you up and down the west coast and really hoping everyone comes through this. Stay safe.
