This is our legacy and one of the inspirations behind our brand!!!

Hamlin Drug Store was the oldest pharmacy both in Raleigh and in North Carolina, as well as being the state's oldest Black-owned pharmacy.

Captain James Edwards Hamlin, a Shaw University graduate, opened the People's Drug Store in 1904 on 13 East Hargett Street. He renamed it Hamlin Drug Company in 1907 after buying out his partner.
In 1921, he moved the business to the first floor of the Lightner Arcade Hotel.

In 1957, Clarence C. Coleman and John M. Johnson purchased the drugstore from the Hamlin family.

In 1963, the business was relocated to 126 East Hargett St where it still stands today.

Johnson managed the pharmacy for almost 60 years before closing it in 2017.

Today marks the first day of Kwanzaa. Today’s principle is Umoja.

“The principle of Umoja (unity) speaks to our need to develop and sustain a sense of oneness, righteous and rightful togetherness in the small and large circles and significant relations of our lives, from family and friendship to community and the cosmos. HELP US CHOOSE OUR NEXT FRAGRANCE!!! 🙏🏽
Almost 7 years after I brought this bare root plant home to Harlem from Maui she decided to grace me with her 1st gorgeous blooms 🌺. Such a lovely reminder of the perseverance of Mother Nature, both in plants and in humans!
We’d like honor this season of regeneration with a new fragrance once all of the flowers and all of us can show our lovely faces to the world again!
