One way to be a more effective leader: Pair empowerment with accountability. (For yourself and the people you lead.)
This can apply in organizations, at home, or to teams of any kind.

What does it mean to empower someone, why is it important, and how do we do it? In a nutshell, empowerment fosters a mindset of meaningful, purposeful, intentional contribution. When the people you lead feel empowered, they have room to be problem solvers, get creative, and find solutions that work for them, your team, and your clients.

But it’s important to match empowerment with accountability. Now that you’ve nurtured an environment that allows them to create, design, and innovate, how will you help your employees, kids, or teams bring their ideas and commitments to life, and take them across the finish line? The empowered energy is fantastic, but without the accountability to go along with it, empowerment alone doesn’t always produce measurable results.

How can you boost empowerment and accountability for yourself? Connect with others regularly, lift each other up, and hold each other to your commitments.

I’m launching a small group coaching program for female professionals in leadership roles, and this is one of many topics we’ll dive into. We have a group of wickedly smart, compassionate, creative women who continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives, and we have room for 2 more to fill the roster.

Not only will these women receive coaching from me, but they’ll also learn from each other, create together, and hold each other accountable along the way. We’ll match empowerment with accountability in every session. Imagine the clarity and confidence a group like this will bring!

The program will be 6 months long, and we’ll start as soon as our roster is complete.

I’m looking for someone who’s ready to take their leadership skills to the next level, and who sees the value in connecting with other powerful women along the way. If that might be you (or someone you know), send me a message with any questions, or set up a quick call to learn more. I’d love to chat and see if this would be a good fit.

Lessons from an encounter w/
On Wed morning we happened to walk by the Peloton studio in NY. We tried to peek in to check it out. The doors were locked, and a security guard told us it was closed.
As we turned to leave, I saw Ally Love, walking through the lobby. With my eyes bulging out of my head, I said “Omg it’s Ally Love!” Mass said “oh boy, just play it cool.” He could tell I was NOT playing it cool.😂
The gentleman opened the studio door, and as she came out, I said “Hi Ally!” 👋🏼 waiving at her with a cheesy grin. She smiled and said “Hi!”. I stood there, frozen. She paused, then asked, “Would you like a photo?” Could she read my mind?! (Or has this happened enough that she could tell I was afraid to ask?) Either way, I was blown away by her kind offering.
After saying “yes!” and clumsily attempting a selfie, Mass offered to take the photo, then Ally asked her driver to. She’s the BEST! Mass told her we loved Dance 100, and I chimed in too. But the cat got my tongue when it came to the things I really wanted to say. I wanted to tell her I love her classes, that she’s a wonderful instructor, and that I appreciate her supportive, motivational style. She asked where we’re from and said it was great to meet us, then off she went. I stood there, so excited by what just happened, and also kicking myself about the things I had wanted to say to her and didn’t.
As with everything in life, this was a learning moment. I will always regret the things unsaid, especially if they’re kind. Why did I clam up? I was nervous and caught off guard, but I also felt vulnerable, voicing what her classes mean to me.
It’s ironic. As a coach, I’m trained in the skill of acknowledgment, because being seen for who you are is a powerful gift. She’s a person, just like us, and although I’m sure she hears it all the time, I wanted her to know that I see those things about her. Regret can be an incredible tool. So the next time I meet someone I admire, you can be sure I’ll let them know. More importantly, I’ll remember that the power of acknowledgment goes both ways. It’s not only a gift to the person receiving it, but to the person giving it as well. Thank you Ally!

Let’s talk artichokes. I personally think they’re underrated and don’t get enough hype. Not only are they a feast for the eyes, but there are lots of reasons to eat them!

Artichokes:

Come loaded with prebiotic fiber, so they promote good gut bacteria and a healthy digestive system.💩
Are known to lower LDL cholesterol (the bad kind👎🏼) and raise HDL (the good kind👍🏼).
Are a great source of folic acid, vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals.💫
Promote bone health🦴, brain health🧠, heart health🫀, and help control blood pressure.
All that, AND they come straight from nature in quite a pretty little package.💝

I love the taste of artichokes, and there are so many ways to prepare & enjoy them! What’s your favorite? Share some artichoke inspo in the comments!🙌🏼

Let’s do some Spring cleaning for your health! How can you tell if it’s time to hit the reset button?

When your detoxification system gets overloaded, you might experience one or more of these symptoms:

▪️ Bloating
▪️ Sluggish or irregular digestion (constipation, etc.)
▪️ Headaches
▪️ Fatigue, or that afternoon slump
▪️ Poor sleep quality
▪️ Brain fog
▪️ Excess belly fat

My 5-Day Reset is an excellent way to clean up (and clean out) your system, and nourish your body with the good stuff! It is NOT a juice cleanse or starvation diet. It’s a nutrient dense, whole foods detox, that will leave you lighter, more energetic, and feeling your best.

This is not about punishing yourself for overindulgence, but about treating yourself with the love & kindness you deserve! I provide a step-by-step protocol and seasonal recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even snacks. You’ll also get great support from each other (That’s the best part.)🥰

Those who went through the last Reset experienced such great results, and you can too. Message me with questions, and visit the link in the comments for more info. I’d love for you to join us!!💫

There’s nothing quite as comforting as warm soup on a cold day. Am I right?🍲🙋🏻‍♀️

A great thing about soup is that you don’t really need a recipe, or if you have one as a guideline, most are totally adjustable and really forgiving.

Making soup is an excellent way to pack more plants into your diet AND reduce food waste. It’s one of the easiest ways to use veggies that are reaching the end of their life.

Here’s a recipe for a super delicious sweet potato soup, inspired by my lovely friend , and tweaked so it wouldn’t require me a trip to the grocery store for ingredients:

🔸 2 med-large sweet potatoes, peeled & chopped
🔸 2 Tbsp coconut oil
🔸 1/2 large white onion diced
🔸 2 bay leaves
🔸 1/4 cup miso paste
🔸 pinch of chili flake
🔸 4 cups vegetable broth
🔸 juice of 1 small lemon
🔸 salt & pepper to taste

Add coconut oil & onions to a pot over medium heat and cook for 5-7 minutes. Add pinch of chili flake and bay leaves- let cook 1 minute, stir, then add sweet potatoes and cook for another 5-7 minutes. Pour in vegetable broth then add miso. Bring to a boil then turn heat down to med-low and simmer for 25-30 minutes. Remove the bay leaves and add the lemon juice. Use an immersion blender or add contents of pot to a blender, 2 cups at a time, until fully blended. Garnish with fresh parsley leaves or toasted pumpkin seeds. Enjoy!

Hit the save button to keep this recipe handy, and remember, substitutions are A-okay. Let me know if you try it!
