December is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Awareness Month. SAD is a form of depression that typically occurs during the fall and winter months and is linked to reduced sunlight. Symptoms may include overall sadness, loss of energy, and changes in sleep/appetite. The good news 👏🏽🙌🏽🥳…it usually gets better during the spring months and it is 100% manageable with a combination of things (getting more sunlight when possible, light therapy, proper nutrition, especially making sure to include Vitamin D rich foods in your diet/taking a nutrition supplement if necessary, increasing activity, maintaining strong/healthy social connections, talk therapy with a licensed professional/ health care provider, and prescription medication when necessary). The first step, however is awareness. If you think you may be challenged with SAD,
consult your physician/healthcare provider right away to determine the best approach for you and to rule out other potential conditions. And oh by the way, make sure to stay connected with me so you don’t miss any more useful wellness tips🤗
