Holistic Psychotherapy Center

Holistic Psychotherapy Center Holistic Psychotherapy Katarzyna A. Haberko, LCSW, PLLC founded the Holistic Psychotherapy Center in NYC in February 2012.

Since graduating NYU in 2001, I have accessed a wide range of therapeutic approaches to address issues presented to me by my clients. Recently, however, I have been more drawn to the holistic spectrum of alternative treatment approaches. A desire to bring about healing to my clients through the most desirable vessels, as well as a deep personal interest has led me to shape my private practice into

what it is now a Holistic Psychotherapy Center. Through my travels around the world, I have learned that, at the core, we all seek safety and a desire to be heard and understood. This philosophy forms a cornerstone of my practice. My approach in psychotherapy is eclectic, drawing from various theories with a strong foundation in modern psychodynamic psychotherapy. I also incorporate a holistic approach, such as Reiki and Meditation techniques. Every person who visits my practice has a unique story to tell. During your first session, I listen intently while we get to know each other. Your initial visits are spent on talking about what brings you to therapy today, what you expect from our sessions, what your particular needs are, and how I can be of help to you. Your treatment is then tailored to your personal needs. I am a bilingual psychotherapist working with English and Polish -speaking clients. As a “Transplant New Yorker” myself, I work particularly well with minorities and people of European descent. My clinical experiences, which range from the treatment of substance abuse, domestic violence, to child and family therapy clients, provided the necessary background to transition to my current practice. In addition, I have a background in business, public relations, performing arts and customer service industries, which further increase my understanding of your unique needs.

“Happiness doesn't lie in conspicuous consumption and the relentless amassing of useless crap. Happiness lies in the person sitting beside you and your ability to talk to them. Happiness is clear-headed human interaction and empathy. Happiness is home. And home is not a house-home is a mythological concept. It is a state of mind. A place of communion and unconditional love. It is where, when you cross its threshold, you finally feel at peace.”
Dennis Lehane

Rebuilding self-worth is a courageous journey, and it begins with recognizing that your value is inherent—no one else can define it for you. You are worthy simply because you exist, and that truth remains, even on days when it’s hard to believe. Start by practicing self-compassion. Speak to yourself with kindness and understanding, just as you would to a dear friend. Remember, making mistakes and experiencing setbacks doesn’t diminish your worth; it’s part of being human.

Setting healthy boundaries is an act of self-respect. Learn to say no to people or situations that drain your energy or make you feel small. Protect your peace and prioritize your well-being. Take time to celebrate your strengths and acknowledge your achievements, no matter how big or small. Reflect on how far you’ve come and honor the resilience you’ve shown.

Surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you. Let go of relationships that make you question your value, and instead, seek out those who encourage your growth. Invest in self-care—nourish your mind, body, and soul through activities that bring you joy, rest, and renewal. Self-care is not selfish; it’s essential for healing.

When negative thoughts arise, challenge them. Notice when you’re being self-critical and ask yourself if you’d say those things to someone you love. Replace harsh self-talk with gentle affirmations and honest reminders of your worth. Forgive yourself for past mistakes and let go of regrets that weigh you down. Growth comes from forgiving yourself and moving forward, not from holding onto shame.

Pursue what lights you up. Engage in passions and hobbies that make you feel alive and authentic, reminding yourself of your uniqueness and purpose. And remember, it’s okay to seek support—whether from friends, mentors, or professionals. You don’t have to walk this path alone.

Rebuilding self-worth is not a destination, but an ongoing journey. Be patient with yourself and celebrate every step forward, no matter how small. You are enough, exactly as you are, and you are worthy of all the love, respect, and happiness life has to offer.
