β¨β€οΈππ Today, South Slope Pediatrics proudly honors Juneteenth β Freedom Day β a powerful reminder of resilience, liberation, and the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality. βπ½βπΎβπΏ
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally received word that they were free. Juneteenth marks that profound moment in history β and it continues to be a day of reflection, education, and celebration. ππ
To honor this important day, our office is closed today so that our team can take the time to learn, reflect, recharge, and celebrate the spirit of freedom in their own meaningful ways. Whether itβs attending community events, engaging in conversations, or simply taking a quiet moment to appreciate the progress made and the work still to do β this day matters. Deeply. β€οΈ
We stand in solidarity with our Black community β patients, families, friends, and neighbors β and we remain committed to fostering a future rooted in equity, inclusion, and love. π±π«
Wishing everyone a joyful, powerful, and peaceful Juneteenth. π€ππ
