Trust Your Gut: Infant Allergies During Lactation-
Have you ever worked with a lactating parent whose infant has one or several of the following symptoms; cries several hours a day, has difficulty sleeping, eczema or rashes, acid reflux, excessive spit up and/or vomiting, mucous and/or foul smelling stool? This baby is likely reacting to one food or even multiple foods in the mother’s diet. This presentation will discuss the different infant/pediatric allergic conditions, symptoms, and different management options to improve this very challenging situation for the infant and entire family.
Bryna Sampey, IBCLC
Beyond Baby Brain: Embracing neurodiverse families and removing barriers to access in your lactation practice-
Did you know that science estimates one in ten adults in their 20's and 30's may be on the neurodiversity (ND) spectrum? These folks make up a large part of our clientele as lactation professionals. We have a responsibility as providers to consider the facets of our care that may be inaccessible to people on the ND spectrum. From booking, to billing, to the consult itself, it can be hard to look through the lens of someone who thinks completely differently than we do. This talk will cover the unique characteristics of different spectrum disorders as well as strategies for care and increasing accessibility to our care for these clients and their families.
