Sistah Pause

Sistah Pause Welcome to Sistah Pause, the first virtual perimenopause and midlife wellness platform created exclusively for Black women. That ends here. Pause. Listen.

Helping Black women reclaim energy, release weight, and thrive in midlife through root-cause lab testing, personalized hormone and peptide therapy, and metabolic reset strategies — because you deserve more than “normal”; you deserve optimal. We’re here to empower, educate, and support you through one of life’s most transformative seasons with expert guidance, compassion, and culturally centered care. At Sistah Pause, we know every woman’s journey is unique — and too often, Black women’s symptoms and stories are dismissed or misunderstood in traditional healthcare. We’ve built a safe, inclusive space where your health, wellness, and confidence are prioritized and protected. Your lived experiences matter, your voice is heard, and your journey is honored every step of the way. Our practice offers root-cause lab testing, hormone and peptide therapy, metabolic reset programs, and support for sleep, mood, skin, and sexual wellness — addressing the whole woman, not just her symptoms. We believe menopause isn’t an ending — it’s a powerful new beginning. Through culturally competent care, evidence-based treatments, nutrition and lifestyle guidance, mindset support, and sisterhood, we help you thrive — not just survive — through midlife and beyond. Sistah Pause was founded by Mariama-Seray Barrie, FNP-BC, MSCP, a certified menopause practitioner, mother, and advocate. Born from her own personal and professional experiences as a Black woman and provider, Mariama created Sistah Pause™ to fill a critical gap in healthcare — a space where Black women are seen, supported, and celebrated through every stage of midlife and not dismissed. Power Up.™

✨ Because your pause is powerful — and you’re never alone. ✨

High-functioning doesn’t always mean well-supported.
Many women are managing careers, families, and expectations while their bodies are quietly asking for clarity and care.

Save this as your reminder — your wellbeing deserves attention too. 🤍

If parts of this story feel familiar, you’re not alone.

If your body feels unfamiliar lately, you’re not imagining it

Perimenopause can begin earlier than most women are told — and symptoms don’t always look obvious.

You’re still showing up.
Still working.
Still caring for everyone else.
But your sleep feels lighter.
Your patience feels thinner.
Your energy isn’t what it used to be.

And you can’t quite name why.

For many Black women, these changes can be early perimenopause signals — long before missed periods or hot flashes ever show up.

You’re not dramatic.

You’re not lazy

And you’re definitely not alone.

Understanding what’s happening in your body is not vanity — it’s self-advocacy.

If this is you and you need answers, start with the Discovery Lab — link in bio

You closed the laptop, but the brain fog didn’t leave the room.

You’ve spent all day performing, pivoting, and pushing through the fatigue. Now you’re heading into your evening wondering why you feel so ‘off,’ so irritable, or just completely overdrawn.

As a Nurse Practitioner, I want you to know: This isn’t a character flaw. It’s a biological signal.

You’ve been paying the ‘Survival Tax’ for too long, and your hormones are sending out an S.O.S. But you don’t have to guess your way through this transition anymore.

I’m opening up a few spots for Discovery Sessions to help you find your “optimal,” not just your “normal.” 🔬
Let’s look at the root cause together and build a roadmap that actually fits your life.

Monday morning usually comes with a side of ‘Strong Black Woman’ performance. We push through the brain fog, we ignore the joint pain, and we caffeinate our way through the fatigue.

But as a Nurse Practitioner, I’m here to ask: What is your body actually telling you today?

If you woke up feeling like you’re already behind, or like your ‘fuse’ is non-existent before the first meeting starts, that’s not a character flaw. It’s a signal.

At Sistah Pause™, we stop the guessing game. We look at the root cause so you can stop surviving your Mondays and start governing your life again.

The February Roadmap is officially live. Grab my free perimenopause guide ( link in bio) and start your reclamation today.

I’m pivoting from my planned posts today. Seeing what’s happening in our nation, I cannot ignore the collective trauma hitting our nervous systems.
As an immigrant who has survived the displacement and fear of war, I know this stress isn’t just “in your head”—it’s in your body.
To my sisters feeling the weight of the world today: please give yourself permission to pause. We are a resilient people, but even the resilient need a moment to breathe.
My DMs are open if you need a safe space to share a prayer or a thought.
“Indeed, with hardship, there is ease.” (Quran 94:5) 🌙
