Visual Description: Curly haired redheaded woman with pale skin in a brown shirt discussing how the House of Representatives passed a bill that can impact Medicaid coverage. "I’m beyond disgusted that the House passed this spending cuts bill. As a chronically ill and mobility impaired person who is unable to work, this is a direct attack on me and my community. I have Medicaid. I live in a state with robust Medicaid expansion. It pays for me to have a home health aide come during the week to do tasks I can no longer do myself. It pays for all of my doctors visits, surgeries, hospital stays, medications, some of my medical equipment, home delivered nutritious meals, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dental care, mental healthcare, eye care, and also when I’ve needed daily infusions. Is it perfect? No! Do I still have out of pocket expenses? Yes! Would I be saddled with over a million in medical debt without it? Yes! I also have SNAP benefits, HEAP, and Cash Assistance. Do they satisfy all my financial needs? No! But without them, I’d be in an even more precarious position. I’ve been fortunate that my family and friends have made sacrifices to supplement what the current system is failing to provide. If the help I’ve been getting from our government is removed, I don’t know what I’ll do. This isn’t a partisan issue, no matter how much the news tries to frame it that way. This is a human rights issue. If the concern is fraud and mismanagement, do a thorough audit and release the findings that support these cuts AND present a concrete action plan that ensures important benefits won’t be stripped away. Despite politician promises that Medicaid won’t be affected, we have yet to see math that corroborates that claim.Impulsive and drastic actions are taking place without a new resolution being issued in conjunction. To put it in language that our capitalistic lawmakers can understand— If you had a product and found it ineffective, you’d take the time to do research and development until you had a better replacement to put on the market. Why isn’t that happening here?!I’ve already been convinced that the SSI/SSDI process is a form of genocide. Medicaid cuts will add so many more lives to the killing that’s already happening. People will die, Americans. People have been dying, Americans. And no one seems to care! Please don’t wait to act. We cannot let this move forward in the Senate. Call (866) 426-2631 and after sharing your zip code you’ll be sent to the right office. Tell them that you’re a constituent and don’t support this madness. Tell them this is murder. Tell them American Lives Matter!"

Visual Description: Curly haired redheaded woman with pale skin in a fuschia dress discussing Section 504 being in peril in 17 states. "Hey guys if you live in Texas, Alaska, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana, Utah, Iowa, Indiana, West Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, or Florida you wanna listen to this video. Fundamental rights of disabled people are now at stake in your states.Led by Texas, these states filed a lawsuit saying that Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act isn’t constitutional because it interferes with states discretionary power managing their allocated federal funds.Section 504 does so many things. It protects disabled people from medical discrimination, ensures they have access to accessible medical equipment and facilities, life changing treatment, requires captions and sign language for those that need it, protects people from having their kids taken away due to their disabilities, it also protects disabled people who are at risk of forced institutionalization and segregation from society. And so much more!Able bodied and think this doesn’t affect you? Think again. Disability rights are civil rights. If this gets passed, a dangerous precedent will be established and legally opens up gender and racial discrimination as well, because those are tied to spending clauses too. Please call your state attorney general now and let them know that you wish to uphold Section 504 in your state. The deadline for documents to be submitted to the courts is February 25th, so the time to act is now! Please like and share this video to raise awareness on this important issue, thanks!"
