Today I got back in the pool after being away from it for some time. I joined the NYC Park District and completed my first swim 🏊‍♀️ back.

Training for the Women's Philadelphia 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️ Triathlon as part of the Program which is a program that partnered up with a few sponsors and coaches to help us on our journey to the race but also to be able to bring more to the sport of . Ive mentioned it before but you don't see much representation at these races 🏁 It's great to have brands and companies that are supporting, supportive and working to be able to bring it to more people. It's with seeing each other and each other's stories and successes that makes this experience more unique. I'm excited to learn from the amazing coaches and mentors and ask all the questions ❓️⁉️❔️

A great big thank you to as well for providing us with with a gift card 💳 to use towards triathlon training expenses.

A lot to learn and a journey to enjoy and keep cheering each other on.

Applications are open for 2022! Going on its second year 🎓

The Aim High, Dream Big Scholarship application is open and applications are due December 1st, 2021. Open to immigrant students or children of immigrants. There will be 4 $500 scholarships awarded.

Feel free to share, whether you know someone that may qualify or even if not, this can make a difference in some students school year for next semester.

In case anyone is interested in a FREE self-defense workshop, Despite The Dark is celebrating its 3rd year with one at the 606 next Thursday. Brian from On Your Mark will be leading the workshop. There is also a virtual run set up for the 22nd-23rd you can do on your own if you can't make the event, you can search for juarezn17@gmail.com or hello@despitethedark.com and add as friend on the Nike Run app and you'll get invited to the walk/run. It's 3 miles.

An organization I first learned about through - Despite The Dark 🌃 provides a lot of great resources and brings events and conversations to keep the conversation about safety at night 🌛 - I have loved and learned so much from them and the team behind it all is just amazing ♥️

How many times have we changed our names or never corrected ✔ people when they said it wrong. I didn't want to inconvenience anyone. I would just say yea, that's right. I tried to brush it off and make things easy to fit in.

Today's class with was so great and she made a comment about names. To correct people. Our parents or someone named us, so we should be proud of it.

We work so hard to be who we are and keep pushing to work on ourselves. When I see a name I have no idea how to say, I tend to ask people how they say their own name and even though I may have trouble at first to get it, I try and say it the way they do (my love for languages 💭 come out here).

So just like how we work out and train and try to improve on our times ⏲️ and endurance, how about maybe putting in some work in this way too?
