I believe that how you start your day makes a huge difference with how it goes. Before you look at your email, cook, pack a lunch or any of the many morning demands, take a few minutes of me-time.
I used to try to plan out my entire day before I stepped out of bed. Technically, my to do list usually started haunting me before I went to bed and continued into my first waking thoughts.
What usually ensued was a sense of dread as a mountain of tasks were before me. There seemed to be no end in sight. I would stress over the meeting I still hadn't prepped for or the checklist that I still hadn't finished from the day before. The truth is, there's always something more to be done. Your day to day will always be busy when you have children!
I decided to accept that some days my house wouldn't be perfectly clean. I gave myself the grace to miss some of my self- imposed deadlines. I decided to start my days as peacefully as possible.
Today, before I get out of bed, I spend a few minutes focusing on the things that I am grateful for. Then I affirm how I want my day to be. "I am favored." "I am abundant." "I am blessed" "I am more fit everyday." You get the point. It's amazing how much this has shifted my energy and how I approach each day.
My grandmother did affirmations with me every day before school. At the time, I didn't understand it. Now that I am a older, I am so grateful for the example that she set for me.
We will discuss affirming your children later. For now, let's focus on some me-time. If we feel good the whole family will feel good.
How do you start your morning?
