Navigating the second stitch in our procedure, the curved suture passer deftly brings out the eyelit, securing the stitch through the rotator cuff. With precision, we pass the wide stitch through the central part, emerging at the back cannula. The anterior moss stitch takes center stage, as we tie down three stitches, firmly fixing the rotator cuff to the tuberosity. A sliding locking knot ensures secure fixation, akin to a precise fishing knot.

I’m Dr. Jordan Kerker. I graduated with honors from the University of Michigan and completed my medical education at Upstate Medical University. From there, I went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at North Shore/Long Island Jewish Health System.

After residency, I completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI) where I learned cutting-edge arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques of the Shoulder, Hip, Knee and Ankle.

My practice involves both non-operative and operative treatment of the athlete. As a former athlete, I emphasize the importance of injury prevention, but specialize in advanced surgical techniques when intervention is required.

I have received numerous accolades for my dedication and outstanding patient care. In 2022, I was selected by my peers and named a New York Super Doctors® Rising Star. I was also published in the Long Island Pulse Magazine as the only Orthopedic Surgeon to be named Long Island's Distinguished Doctors of 2016.

Most recently I was named Castle Connolly’s Top Doctor in 2023 & 2024.

This is a glimpse into a recent surgical procedure on a 42-year-old patient suffering from chronic shoulder pain.

My surgical team utilized precise tools, including a mechanical shaver and titanium buttons, to repair the damaged shoulder tendon. The surgery went smoothly, and we're hopeful for a full recovery ahead.

CrossFit is not dangerous, nor should it be intimidating. Almost anything you do physically has its inherent risk of injury. You have to be smart no matter what form of exercise you choose.

CrossFit=Constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity. We hardly ever do the same thing twice. We can modify any movement or weight for your level of fitness. Everyone started at different points and are currently at different places in their fitness. Doesn’t matter, we all motivate and encourage each other.

CrossFit certainly isn’t the only way to train, but it is highly effective. Perhaps the most important aspect of CF is the culture of health and the people you train with that become your family. The people we workout with everyday is the reason we keep coming back for more pain, not the exercising itself. No better way to change your life than to surround yourself with disciplined people.

If you’re interested in giving this a shot, and I highly recommend it, shoot me a DM or comment below to discuss.
