*TRIGGER WARNING*
💧October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month. Today we share an emotional story from an amazing mother and individual. Meet Wendy Cruz-Chan. She is a dedicated Doula offering a variety of services including placenta encapsulation and umbilical cord art work. She is also a mother of 2 beautiful girls. Just before her beautiful was born, Wendy and her husband suffered a great loss, one that no mother would ever want to imagine. At just 19 weeks gestation, Wendy birthed her son Killian. Killian was a and with no time to digest her reality, Wendy was told she only had 2 hours to spend with her son before nurses would come to take him away. 2 hours... this meant no time to dress him, to have family visit, or to take professional pictures for memories. Experts (Doctors, Psychologists and Baby Loss organisations) stated that families should be given the option of staying with their baby as long as they wished - or at least until there hospital stay is done. But this isn’t possible as the bodies of the babies would start to “change” in the warmer temperatures of hospitals. After what Wendy suffered, she selflessly pumped and donated over 2,000 oz of breastmilk to 6 different children but she didn’t stop there. She also made it her mission to raise money to have a - a device to cool any bassinet so that can be with their families longer - donated to NY Methodist Hospital where she birthed... and in just 3 short months she succeeded. She is now working to raise money to have Cuddle Cots available in hospitals all over NY. Through her loss Wendy has empowered so many women and helped so many families. Through Cuddle Cots, families are granted the gift of time. We are truly honored to share her story on our page. Please light a candle on Oct. 15 for all the babies who were gone to soon and if you would like to donate to Wendy’s cause, please stay tuned or donate to S.O.B.B.S (stories of babies born still)- Thank you 🙏🏽
