Physicians for Reproductive Health (PRH), a network of doctors across the country, works to improve access to comprehensive reproductive health care. We do this by mobilizing and educating clinicians, speaking with the media, and advocating with our policy makers to achieve a vision of patient-centered health care that is safe, supported, and accessible.

Weldon would have been the most extreme anti-abortion nominee to be confirmed. The Trump administration is surely not done trying to shoehorn anti-abortion extremists and anti-vaxxers into positions of power, but today they folded. We take these wins! Applying pressure works! Yesterday, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in the EMTALA case, US v. Idaho and Moyle.

Our CEO & President Dr. Jamila Perritt said it best: “As medical professionals, we know abortion is health care because we see it every day. We treat it everyday. Lawmakers and courts cannot replace the depth of understanding required to deliver health care in moments of crisis. Yet, they increasingly dictate if, when, and how we can provide life-saving care.

We urge the Ninth Circuit to uphold EMTALA’s clear mandate that hospitals must stabilize emergencies, including those requiring abortion care. The lives of our patients, especially those with intersected marginalized identities, depend on it.”
