For as much time as I’ve spent reading the horrible events in the news, I also find myself scrolling through old pictures of the kids more than ever. Cherishing happy memories and trying to be fully present to make new ones.

I shared this on my story yesterday and it sparked a lot of dialogue in DMs so sharing again here… Things that help me when I’m overwhelmed:

Permission to slow down or say “no”

Quality time with friends and family - a phone call or FaceTime when we can’t be together

Go outside in nature

Honor the devastation and unimaginable loss, and realize it’s ok great to embrace the moments of joy and levity.

Practice gratitude

Take action - donate, volunteer, use your voice

A reminder they’re always watching! I found them playing “trainer” where they took turns teaching each other “exercise moves.”

Children of physically active parents are 5.8x more likely to be active themselves.

Modeling healthy behavior is so important, whether it’s what you eat, how you move your body, or how you treat yourself and others.

Smoothie popsicles are a favorite in our home, no recipe required. Make them fresh or pour leftover smoothies into popsicle molds for a healthy summer treat.

It’s a fun way to get your littles in the kitchen and increase exposure to a variety of foods.

Avoid plastic molds as extreme temperatures (think microwaves and freezers) increase chemicals leeching into your food. There are so many cute stainless steel or silicon options instead.
